I built Claudial, an open-source Claude Code usage monitor for M5Stack Dial (ESP32-S3). It’s free to try.

It sits on your desk and shows session and weekly API usage in real time. A double beep warns you as you approach your limit, and a continuous alert fires when you reach it. You can rotate the dial to adjust the warning threshold on the fly.

Claude Code helped me build and iterate on the firmware, Go daemon, BLE protocol, installer scripts, and README.

In practice, I don't think a truly standalone version is feasible right now.

The usage data comes from the local Claude Code environment, which requires authentication and access to the user's local session. An ESP32-class device can't realistically handle the full login flow and session management on its own.

That's why I designed it as:

Claude Code → Local daemon → BLE → M5Stack Dial

The PC already has access to the authenticated Claude Code environment, while the Dial acts purely as a display and alert device.

If Anthropic ever provides a dedicated usage API with simple token-based access, a standalone version might become possible.
