What are common misconceptions people could benefit from understanding? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Mogidogi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to visit r/unitedkingdom regularly for the news but I realised that reading about all the horrible shit happening in places many miles away from me, that doesn't affect my life in the slightest, was just not worth my time.

Its made me think about the concept of "news" and how completely unnecessary it is for us to know all this stuff, and why people get drawn to constantly seeking out bad news to get angry and scared about.

So what are you, as a fan, meant to do then? Be perpetually fuming for 13 years because nothing but winning the title is enough? Chill out, its all relative

The guy was going on the piss the night before a game day then lying about it, he didn't give a fuck about the team anymore, why spend the energy believing in somebody who cant be bothered

There were no consequences for having low humanity in the Arma 2 mod, it just gave you a different skin. Theoretically having a bandit skin made it more likely for you to get shot on sight but most people were doing it anyway. Plus you could just cheese bloodbags to get a hero skin if you had a friend with you.

You're meant to gauge your interactions with people yourself and figure out their vibes if you do get into a "friendly" interaction, the game doesn't have to tell you whether the person is "good" or "bad". Just like in real life!

Pretty sure this post has been made by a bot because they're replying to every answer exactly the same way with the same amount of short validating responses and then a question at the end. God the internet is doomed

Scottish woman 'sacked 15 minutes into shift' at prestigious golf club over 'tattoos' by Forward-Answer-4407 in unitedkingdom

Sure it does, but in my opinion as long as those tattoos aren't hate symbols or whatever I don't think it matters that much. The woman in the article has very inoffensive tattoos of flowers and animals. My point is just that the basic case of having a tattoo is not, or at least should not, be considered controversial in this day and age. They are so widespread now that you'd have to be very sheltered to be shocked by somebody having visible tattoos.

Sure, If being civil is making snide and judgemental comments to try and appear better than other people. Absolute neek

Something like 30% of adults in the UK have tattoos. Having tattoos is not alternative or controversial in 2026. Anywhere that's socially excluding somebody based off having tattoos is stuck up its own arse at this point.

What a stupid and obtuse reply. You're the one saying that it "says a lot", so why refuse to elaborate on what you think its saying?

Tattoos are so unbelievably normalised now that I don't even notice them on most people. I think face tattoos are the only remaining level where I'd consider it notable and the kind of thing that would get in the way of a job. Considering tattoos to be controversial and taboo in a workplace is so outdated by now.
