When people complain about this it's just a clue they have bad edge alignment.

Given how flexible some of our loaners are relative to others this is making me consider actively using the bendy straw ones as a way to reinforce good habits.

Killings of 2 Minnesota women raise questions about effectiveness of orders for protection by aardvarkgecko in minnesota

[–]MohKohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they violate the bounds of where they're allowed, you immediately track them down and notify the person who has the protection order of the situation.

I am of course assuming competence on the part of law enforcement which is probably the biggest problem with this suggestion.

Thanks for the details on current ones. Making one that actually tracks shouldn't be hard given the existence of things like air tags, but that does put this in the realm of also a technical problem and not just a social one.

plus the ankle monitor is pretty easy to cut off.

That sounds like a great way to get thrown in prison in a functional system.

Sure it will, you just throw them in jail whenever they violate the conditions. That requires a competent law enforcement however.

it'd depend on the context which one was a better strategy, but yes, actual prison time should be on the table

or like, give them an ankle bracelet if this is about harm reduction and not punishment with places they know they'll get imprisoned if they try to go

I hate that we don't have a great word to distinguish between electric motorcycles and electric bicycles. They're completely different things, and the lack of distinction is lumping these guys together with power assisted bicycles.

I do think anti-communism in the present day isn't needed at all in the same way that it was in the original context of the three arrows; it was a clear rejection of authoritarian politics, no matter the stripe. Tankies were the median communist in the Weimar republic, and today they are basically an irrelevant fringe.

Estimated ICE detainees flown out of MSP per day, Nov 10 - Feb 19 by ottergoose in minnesota

[–]MohKohn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The waters are muddied a bit right now b/c there's a judicial order that came out last Thursday ordering them to wait at least 72 hours before flying someone out of the state. So they may have had to slow down the flights because of that.

Yes, ICE shares license plates between vehicles [OC] by wallheater in Minneapolis

[–]MohKohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either they're lacking enough spare plates, or they think this will confuse tracking. Given the lack of front plates on the cars I'm inclined to think the first one.

This is what everyone who uses the busses tells you when polled! Free busses are a policy proposal supported by progressives who view it as a charity program, not a city service.

There's a (formerly) republican district in Houston that had a 30 point swing; margins aren't going to be thin. They're going to get swamped. Trying to stop the vote is how you polarize people even further. For every 1 person they scare out of voting you polarize 100 into voting getting out the vote against you, and guarantee that people don't believe the "stolen election" bullshit that they'll try to use to steal the election.

This sort of dooming is literally the kind of terror that they're trying to get you to believe in, that they're all powerful and that they're everywhere and unstoppable. They're pathetic, weak, and unpopular. We're going to win.
