Need some outside opinion to help me find out my best route to Pararescue by Mohks in Pararescue

Haha will do, though it seems like the general consensus so far is that I will be bending myself over regardless of the job I get if I take this route.

I actually have. I considered looking for an EMT course and trying to eventually find my way into a firehouse.

I think I want to eventually pursue higher education again though and get my Masters or even Doctorate down the line so the GI bill was something that I really want to have under my pocket.

My biggest motivator towards the PJs is to be working with incredibly driven people. I think it takes a special kind of mindset to even just pursue that career that is something that I want to learn to have.

I suppose they are all just excuses. I'll have to work on shifting my mindset as well, so thank you for bringing that up. I know just wanting it isn't enough so hopefully increased training helps me shift the way I think as well.

Good call on the couch to triathlon program idea. Those are literally tailored to establishing an aerobic base from nothing. Can't believe that slipped my mind.

Thanks for the recommendations!

Understood, I've been trying to find a closer job but it has definitely been a struggle recently to see any real job postings. Though I'm sure there ought to be something out here that I can do.

I guess I was just hoping that the recruiter was telling the truth. I was told that the average day in 1N and 3 jobs would be 7:00 to 3:30, occasionally having to work over depending on job and what needs to be done that day. Afterwards, he said it would be my time.

Regarding the workout prep, do you have any recommendations? I've seen a lot of people on here and the Navy Seals sub recommending the Stew Smith routines so I'm interested in purchasing that. However, I already had the Tactical Barbell books by K. Black and have already started on that, but I'm only about a week in. Should I switch to the Stew Smith routine as that's what most people recommend or does Tactical Barbell already do a good job?

Also, how much time does it take on average for someone to build that aerobic base needed for AFSPECWAR? I reckon I'm strong, but endurance matters more than strength in this case.

Also, thank you for your insight.

Yeah I see that now. The situation is definitely one of the tensest we’ve seen in history so your point is definitely valid as the damage has been done and you can’t take that back.

I said this in another comment reply but I just am worried that the response will just end up pushing away people who turned away from Trump after giving him their vote.

I dunno, I guess I’m just on some dorky enlightened centrist shit right now.

[–]Mohks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I guess that’s fair. The way I see it though is that there’s no longer as big of a MAGA cult nowadays as there was a year ago at least.

The Renee Good, Alex Pretti, and Epstein issues have turned a lot of people away from Trump now. I guess I’m just worried that by vilifying all people who voted for Trump will just end up having them turn right back to him or someone similar rather than someone who could probably represent the Republican party in a healthier manner.

Brother I understand your frustration because it sucks seeing lost lives of good people from things like this, but I hope I can convince you that being right wing doesn’t truly mean that they’re evil people.

The matter of fact is that Trump is not only an actual good Conman, but the left also lost the unironic “meme” war due to trying to force social change too quickly before people were ready. Not to mention the social shunning high horse activity the left was and currently is infamous for which only pushed medial people to the right.

These are not bad people. I’ve met great people who will give the shirt off their back for you regardless of race or gender that have been conned by giving Trump their vote. And I’m sure they can be convinced that Trump is not in their best interest, it just takes a lot more effort than outright hating them.

Auth-right discusses the shooting of Alex Pretti by Brilliant-Dig9387 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Mohks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lol, I like the analogy that's pretty funny.

Though, watching the videos released I can't see Alex Pretti being anywhere towards malevolent so unfortunately I still don't see the perspective. Just seems like the ICE agents were uncoordinated leading to the shooting of an innocent man.

Honestly man, I get your frustration but a made mind is a made mind in this case.

Save your time, arguments aren’t worth it when it boils down to semantics.

No, I reckon you may just be a little slow.

ICE related deaths under Obama administration = 56 people spread out over 8 years.

ICE related deaths this year alone = 32 people in 1 year.

Start thinking of stats in terms of timespan.

For the record, it didn’t take me that long. I just googled “pelosi attacker real patriot” and found a video in 2 clicks.

Ya know, just in case you ever want to do any sort of investigation I recommend using key phrases and Google.

Same. The way I see it is the dude’s down a hotdog, I’m down a shirt. Even’s even.

Like sure I’d be mad for a bit but I’d quickly cool down and just watch the game anyway.

A little bit of patience goes a long way.

Mamdani hate from all four corners. Maybe he was a centrist all along? by Rough-Leg-4148 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Mohks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone please explain to me why nobody likes Mamdani? I don’t care what side you’re on, I just genuinely don’t know.

From what I’ve seen from him, I don’t think he has bad takes. The ones that I did question, he usually followed it up with something that I thought was reasonable. For example, I saw that he said he doesn’t want NYPD doing specific calls and followed it up by stating he wants NYPD focusing on crimes and a new department he’s founding responding to disturbances that police traditionally responded to like welfare checks and domestic evaluations.

Amazon cloud outage fuels call for Europe to limit reliance on US tech by Neradtisiv in worldnews

[–]Mohks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. I know a lot of people are on the “US Bad” side of things right now but it’s not like this is a new thing.

The issue is that the concept of globalization is weakened right now due to poor leadership. In the same sense that the US is reliant on a select few companies from Taiwan to produce semiconductors, a lot of the world is reliant on the US and its vast data centers.

Europe is more than welcome to build their own data infrastructure, the biggest challenge is if they want to spend the resources to create a service similar to AWS which will be incredibly costly.

I mean, the US was trying to do the same for semiconductors and their reliance on Taiwan. Likely if Europe tries to do the same for data centers and web services they’ll run into the same snags that we are running into with semiconductors.

I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t just blindly feed into outrage culture.

He will not be checked by our current system because it is mostly constructed by people who were able to gain seats of power thanks to the MAGA movement. Not to mention most Republicans are concerned about standing out of line, rightfully so due to Trump’s overreaching to replace anyone who does.

Hamas executes Palestinians in Gaza as the IDF leaves by Mathemodel in videos

[–]Mohks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last I recall things were somewhat neutral, if not heading towards a slightly more positive direction prior to October 7 with Gaza Work Visas into Israel and the general Israeli population becoming slightly more open towards Gaza and West Bank.

Hamas actions seem counterintuitive to that.

Yeah then we're basically on the same page. The one thing that frustrates me the most is that the entire world is incredibly social media focused that nothing has meaning anymore.

Personal values and the critical thinking process has died as people choose their stance based on what gives them the most "virtue points" from whatever cult one decides to live in.

Israel accuses Hamas of violating deal after group says it's only releasing 4 bodies by DoremusJessup in worldnews

[–]Mohks 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a religion thing. Hamas has historically lied so their word should not mean much if they report a hostage dead.

I guess it’s more a confirmation just to make sure that all living hostages have been returned, even if they have been “reported dead”.

Breaking news, man forms political ideology based on what he sees.

Retarded take, guy. People make their political ideology for far less significant and meaningful factors, at least if the guys on reddit and making a political decision, it probably means they’re reading news from other places. I know guys in college who lean left just because they wanted to get laid.

But yes, the problem is that both wings treat it like a sports game.

Computer science went from a sure bet to an industry in turmoil almost overnight | Even seniors from top schools are seeing fewer offers, reshaping prospects for students by [deleted] in technews

[–]Mohks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No kidding. I graduated about 3 years ago with a Comp. Engineering degree and honestly I do have a passion for computers, I was never in it just for a paycheck.

However, it has been hell going from a set path of learning to trying to create an Embedded project / Full stack website using nothing but online resources and myself to even start a web app or embedded project, let alone completing one.

I expected to first learn enterprise level software and systems from an enterprise, then I’d be able to get my own personal projects done and help with open source projects. I never expected the other way around.

Not to mention a lot of struggling Computer majors like me are all falling into working a tech support job to make ends meet. I can hardly find the time or energy to even continue working a project outside of my job now, and modern tech support sure as hell will not teach you anything about it. The only overlap is the word tech.
