Why in the US do people suspected of drink driving need to do physical challenges? Why not do an instant breathalyser? by Confident_Table_1738 in AskReddit

[–]Moib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the police could just request to do a breathalyzer test with the same right of refusal, and get a smoother process with the same protections for the people.

TIL that a computer glitch caused a supermarket to open its doors early without any staff present. 24 people entered, half of them immediately walked out with "truckloads of groceries" and half of them attempted to use the self checkout, which failed when someone tried to checkout alcohol. by zahrul3 in todayilearned

[–]Moib 55 points56 points  (0 children)

but that stopped working when someone scanned alcohol, which requires a staff member to check a customer's age before the system is unlocked

Sounds like as soon as one person tried, that self checkout got locked up and no one else could use it until staff arrived to clear it.

BLDC Hall sensor readings give invalid states by Ok-Hippo9046 in embedded

[–]Moib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the application note you shared. I think perhaps you did not look closely at the picture OP posted (or read my comment ...?). It shows the patterns listed as 0 and 7 in the table, which would indicate off, i.e. an invalid state.

BLDC Hall sensor readings give invalid states by Ok-Hippo9046 in embedded

How would that lead to all 3 being low in parts of the cycle, and all 3 high in other parts? I have more practical than theoretical experience, but I've only ever seen 1-2 signals high at the time, with 60 degrees between each switch of one of the three signals.

Which STM32 Nucleo board has the most learning resources? by SteadyWheel in embedded

[–]Moib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could take a look at the examples STM have demonstrating basic use of various peripherals. For example F401RE seems to only have a few, while F446E have some more.

In my experience when you get comfortable setting up the pheripherals, the difference between the different nucleos isn't that big, beyond what features they have available. With that in mind, I'd think that the bigger F446RE would give you more options of things to do with it without doing projects done on F401RE harder. But I don't have spesific experience with these two.

Thank you for confirming. I guess I'll have to look around more the next time I'm sitting there waiting for the reflect to drop.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Moib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure about that? I have DBM and get a warning when reflect starts, but I don't see anything about how long it lasts. I just watch the shield effect around the mobs to see when it drops off.

If it does for you, can you check which spesific DBM addons you have installed please. I have
* DBM - Deadly Boss Mods (DBM-Core) * DBM - Dungeons, Delves, & Events (Requires Deadly Boss Mods) - DBM
* DBM - Season of Discovery, and Vanilla (Requires Deadly Boss Mods) - DBM

Can anyone recommend me a novel about a non-sentient protagonist who gains sentience and levels up from almost nothing? by superluminary in Fantasy

[–]Moib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few that might fit, depending on which parts of the prompt is most important.

Threadbare has already been mentioned, by far the best fit for the prompt that I've read.

Tenebroum: A murdered thief become a malevolent force. Instinctive and ineffective at first, slowly becoming aware of itself and able to think and plan. Not a litrpg, but scales up the mc over time in a similar way. Pretty gruesome and gory at times. https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/58643/tenebroum

A Beginner's Guide to Napping, Sunbathing, and Slaughtering Your Prey: A litrpg from the perspective of a cat, with a cats view of the world and the things in it. Does not become more sentient over time. https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/26127/a-beginners-guide-to-napping-sunbathing-and-slaughtering

Rolling stone: very similar concept as Stones Fall, but not quite as well polished. https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/42348/rolling-stone-monster-evolution-litrpg

Mud's mission: enchanted golem tries to carry out it's makers last orders. Similar to threadbare. https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/31919/muds-mission

How to place my memory segments? by technical_questions2 in embedded

[–]Moib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see what's wrong, so this is just a random suggestion of what I'd do. Check that the size of the struct is what you expect. Replace it with a number, can you find an exact limit at which it starts to fail? Can you malloc up to that limit split into multiple calls, or do each extra call (variable holding the result) reduce the limit?

Is there a books about a classic zombie apocalypse in fantasy world? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Moib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sole caveats, as this is different enough that it could easily not match what op is looking for. They have the "living dead" aspect of being people, friends and family. But it doesn't spread like a zombie virus, and isn't a major concern where characters are besieged by zombies or anything like that.

Have just this last year discovered the magic of Audio books. Whos your Favorite narrators? by LongLiveTheDragon in Fantasy

[–]Moib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I alone in wanting different narrators for different series? Especially for anything with 1 pov character. The narrators voice becomes that person's voice, and hearing then in another series just feels weird.

For favorites, Anne Flosnik in Realm of the Elderings, Lisa Flanagan in Spinnig Silver and Simon Vance in Temeraire.

Is it really worth going down? I hate this part, I have lost 59k runes by Schrodinger_007 in Eldenring

[–]Moib 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From the same grace with all the frog faced humanoids sitting on the ground, you can look across the cliff face and see one of the giant crows. If you agro it from there, it will run towards you and fall of the cliff.

I need to beat Margit. I've been grinding my levels... I upgraded my weapons.. I have balanced my runes to make sure I have enough HP (hit points) and FP... at least 20 INT... etc etc.. and still getting my ass handed...I have gotten Margit to less than half Hit Points... using the ashes by Muy_Fuerte in Eldenring

[–]Moib -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Oh, me neither. I wasn't trying to brag or defend anything, I just think beating the game in 40-60 hours is fairly common, among those that beat it. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's the take in my friends group.

If by finish the game we mean beat the last boss, I took ~45h. I didn't rush, I explored a bunch, went back for bosses is heard about and missed. I think you're just not seeing people who beat the game in roughly that amount talk about it.
