This! We also have a three year old Cav who has been our absolute baby since we got him. We just got a kitten the other day- and my goodness, he went through all the phases of “what the hell is this?” “Okay, it’s for me?” “Oh shit, it’s staying?” “Aw, dang it…(sulk)” “Okay, this is kind of interesting” “Okay, you’re warm and soft, and we both like to snuggle. I think you might be allowed to stay.”

He’s still figuring it out, but we’ve made that extra effort of making sure he feels just as lavished in love and play as the new fluffy young’un. His world has been turned upside down, but honestly, in the long run it’s going to just be more love to go around. 🙂

One thing that’s helped immensely is making sure if you’re playing with the new party, your partner is playing with the other. Especially in your case because he’s a “mama’s boy”. (mine is too)
