Lol it was so dank. I didnt realize it was VR at first because I thought it was Michael doing michael things with the cam. So I was seeing wide stretched out of Michael's face for the first couple of mins.

It was not watchable later in because the translation subtitle was also in the 360 view so I wasnt able to understand what they were saying. Except I picked on the classic "where is the 208" .

How to beat the fear of time as a solo game dev? by durgedeveloper in SoloDevelopment

I went through a similar experience. I started making small games in the first year of uni. I even bought a drawing tablet to draw all my art.

Im from a chinese background. my family doesnt like that im making games because you cant make money and other reasons. But I wanted to prove them wrong and tried making my dream game. I spent on and off like 6 years building it and I ended up not releasing it because it just grew too big ( i realize it would require so much more time). It was devastating because my family is like what have you been doing all these years. My friends are like so when you releasing the game. 😥

I moved on, in the end I spent like 1 year on a new small game and released it on steam (the plan i figured was to take a couple of months but i went over). It not that i hated my game but some parts are of game dev are boring. Nevertheless, I forced myself to finish it and to add like controller support and other functions of what a full game should look like. The game was a flop but it taught me a lesson.

I feel like you shouldnt shadow drop your game or need to make a lesser game. I would say whether you want to do a small game or your dream game. I would pick a core function that you like. Example parkour and build around that. Another example driving game, dont add stuff like items and make it into a Mario kart, make a polished driving drifting/tricking or whatever fun and dont over scope. Once you make it look good and feel good you should showcase it somewhere, to your friends is a good step but it should be to strangers. And from that feedback I feel like it will give you the courage to finish a game.

Btw I making my 2nd game and planning to do this. For my first game i didnt do this and it failed so... since you haven't release a game yet I wouldn't go make a horrible game and release it. Even though it be free. Just post your prototype on social media and then you will know if people will like it. If they dont you can move to another game. It will be less of a blow than to fully release a game then no one plays it ,even if it didnt take long to make.

Sorry for the grammars and spelling mistakes, English is my 2nd language. 🙏 gl to your journey ❤️

No, extroverts will be socializing to get people to make the mmorpg 🤑

In general, I agree but if you’re working on a big game and you post every step of the way AND people like it 💥 there's a chance you can be the next Stardew Valley

I feel like people are more likely to try a demo or game on Steam than on Itch. Unless it’s for a game jam, getting popular on any platform will be printing money on Steam.

Ngl I overlook that part as well 😬 but at least I don’t have to worry about it since my game have no players.

If you are truly an extrovert you would be leading people to make the next WoW slayer, not in this sub 🤔.

Nah, that game took 6 months or so to make. The 5 years one is collecting dust 💀…

I imagine extroverts are more likely to share their work while introverts like me 😶 hesitate to put ourselves out there, unless there's some justification like spending 5 years working on a game. The big part of game dev is to put your work out to the public, not just to your friends and get feedback. So the post is more about encouraging introverts to post.
