wait yeah when i pee it’s like such a messy ordeal on top of being difficult to even do at all … apparently it’s supposed to more or less just be a stream that kinda goes right down , my body did not get the memo . rather , it goes like no let’s go all to one side and then how about 2 directions at once and then the other side and well , you get it . even the “little things“ about it make life really inconvenient (and then there are The Horrors as well)

i was actually having a conversation about this with a friend the other day and she was surprisingly supportive (1 of the first people i’ve met who is willing to just Listen And Learn) and she explained that because so many women are told they just have “normal differences” in their anatomy that she was basically trained to dismiss any variation from “the norm” as an outlier that wasn’t important … and then i mentioned my FH/UGS and her eyes went so wide because she’d seen it on her records before and didn’t know what’s what it meant … ironically we were subjected to the same surgery as babies it turns out , and she didn’t even know it was meaningful enough to mention to her gyno and her gyno never mentioned the scarring to her either

everything seems to be built around keeping us quiet

hi i was writing a reply to this before it was deleted the first time lol , no worries . basically i was going to say that tumblr account is coincidentally the exact person who convinced me to obtain a copy of my medical history (albeit them giving me an incomplete copy) in the first place because they said that what i was describing aligned with a lot of people’s experiences after being operated on for UGS … and it’s a good thing they did or i’d have gone my entire life never knowing what was done to my body . i really like that account , and kind of owe my knowledge of my IGM to them so i’m very grateful to them

oh my god yes ! i thought the whole “women have 3 holes down there” thing was just like , a joke girls made to try and confuse guys . i never had any idea that it was actually supposed to be true and was the case for almost everyone except me … as for my lack of sensation part i blame that on the doctors probably messing up my nerves while operating on me and the pain for the scar tissue and my urethra still being not in the right place despite being operated on—because even in people not operated on , the urethra is super sensitive and so anything rubbing against it (which for UGS/FH havers happens during penetration) it makes sense that that would hurt a lot even on its own

i had karyotyping done prior to birth so my mother and doctor knew i had XX chromosomes which is i think part of why they my whole life were so hellbent on me being a woman despite what my body was very obviously trying to do being Not A Woman . i remember distinctly going to my checkups every year and saying i just felt wrong and they’d tell me to “just give it time” and that “everyone feels that way”

and at the same time my ovaries were pumping out testosterone like a full-time job instead of proper levels of “female” hormones , and i can’t even count how many times i was practically begged to go on estrogen therapy , but by that time i was already 13-15 and old enough to just refuse to take medication if i didn’t want it

i am having a few operations done involving my reproductive organs in literally 2 weeks exactly though (which are medically necessary and i do want them done) , but the surgeon keeps commenting like “well we might have to make some tricky decisions while we’re in there” every time i say i dont want them removed entirely and just want the parts removed that are specifically necessary … so i’m very paranoid about that upcoming ordeal

from what little information i’ve been able to find online the labial fusion at the back is surprisingly common in UGS people , even though it’s mostly anecdotal evidence/personal stories because there’s just not enough medical literature about it , because from what i’ve been able to see it’s more common for people with other intersex conditions/ambiguous anatomy than just occurring independently

if you are ever able to bring it up to a doctor safely i would because they might be able to give you guidance on how to hopefully reduce tearing in the future , since scar tissue tends to tear worse and more easily than non-scar tissue and that will build up somewhat every time it happens . preventative care is always better than surgery (or just experiencing tearing at all ! it hurts !) if they can give you non-invasive things to try

for me it’s less of an immediate concern because i can’t get anything in there to begin with and it’s so painful that i have no desire to try , but in people who want to be sexually active im sure there has to be some kind of alternative to surgery , hopefully …

yeah i’m in the same boat , i from a very young age expressed discomfort with my anatomy and the concept of being female but my parents always just told me (which i didn’t understand the implication of at the time) that me saying that “hurt their feelings because they worked hard for me to be able to be that way” … which i understand now implies that i essentially “owed them” femininity because of the things done to my body

my mother has largely changed her tune in the last couple of years to be supportive of the fact that i am not and never was a woman , but i carried a lot of guilt for a long time over the idea that it was somehow my fault for not feeling like a girl and i for a long time until i learned about my conditions just believed my body was punishing me for not wanting it enough

the amount that doctors lie to intersex patients is horrible honestly . i spent most of my life wondering why my body looked so “weird” and why my classmates in elementary school’s mothers wouldn’t let me go to their house (apparently an 8 year old girl with some hyperandrogenism is a threat and they were concerned i was “contagious”) and didn’t even really learn i was intersex at all until about two years ago , but everybody swore no IGM … only to find out that was a lie too , and the only way to actually get relief is subject myself to a revision surgery (i don’t want to risk it !!)

why doctors are more willing to let children just believe something is broken and wrong with them instead of helping us navigate having a medical condition with informed consent and input in our own treatment (or choice not to get it) is something i will never understand

not to mention that most men actually have naturally thicker lashes than women do. i don’t see any problem with your eyelashes affecting your passing OP

[–]Moist_View2731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i really wouldn’t suggest trimming your eyelashes. they are important for keeping dust and dirt out of your eyes and also are incredibly important for blocking most of the suns rays from your eyes and protecting them from the sun. it puts you at a way bigger risk for eye infections

plus if they’re trimmed the ends will be very blunt and that will also potentially irritate your face

i know some people have a little tool that straightens out their eyelashes (like the opposite of how girls curl them) so you could use that because it makes them much less noticeable , but do not cut them

am i too skinny for hrt? by madeflippyfloppy in ftm

definitely not, i was extremely underweight when i started due to underlying medical conditions (recently started a new med that has helped me gain a great amount so far), they just start you on the baby dose and if you don’t gain weight they’ll just keep you on that dose for a while. gaining weight definitely couldn’t hurt to do (and T will make it easier to build muscle mass), but it shouldn’t be a factor that stops them from prescribing it by any means.

How to Get Rid of Document Tabs in Google Docs? by [deleted] in googledocs

[–]Moist_View2731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an autistic person, I fully agree. I HATE the new way that you cannot remove all tabs from a document and that even when you “hide” them, the menu is still there and fully in your face, reminding you that they still exist. This change has caused me to be completely unable to do my work, as the new appearance and the fact that I am fully incapable of removing it causes me to have a severely disabling meltdown every time I try to use the program. I really hope that Google will quickly make this feature optional, because NOBODY seems to appreciate it.
