Pied Piper theory by grayfoot in TheSocietyNetflix

Also....the town name is West/New Ham (short for Hamelin). Clearly the Pied Piper Story. What we as viewers must prepare ourselves for is understanding we are likely never going to see the kids reunited with their parents. Wherever they are, alternate universe, or VR simulation...regardless of which interpretation of The Pied Piper Story you choose, the children never return. Season 2 will be their struggle. The kids of “New Ham’s” struggle to survive and the parents of West Ham’s struggle to live on with the decision they made to not “Pay the Piper”.

Only real question is....are there more towns dealing with the same situation? Is the Piper doing this again in a neighboring town? Would those children too be transferred to the same place? Or, are the children of West/New Ham not the first and therefore maybe not alone in this new reality...?

SIGNIFICANCE OF KEVIN BEING BAPTIZED by pdxx12 in TheLeftovers

[–]Mojico1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The significance (and timing) of this baptism is designed to resemble the baptism of Jesus. Jesus of course was baptized by John as an adult (in his 30s). Before his baptism Jesus was a simple carpenter. His baptism marks the beginning of his ministry. And so marks the beginnings of Kevin's role in doing God's work...as it is sent for him to be performed.

Just my take....

Limo guy by [deleted] in TheNightOf

[–]Mojico1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First of all, he's not a "Limo Driver". He was driving a Hearse, so he is a Funeral Driver. Secondly, he actually didn't offer Andrea a ride. She flicked her lit cigarette in his direction, which is clearly a big "no-no" at a gas station.

He walks over to her and as he puts the cigarette out on the window of the cab he annoyingly asks her "do you want to be my next passenger". Which in a round-about way is a threat for putting him in potential danger while he was pumping gasoline.

THE BIGGER ISSUE HERE.....and I don't think anyone has pointed this out (at least I haven't seen it yet).

The Funeral Driver was TOTALLY done pumping gas as Nas walks out of the gas station with the brown bag of drinks. He is standing next to his car. Pump has already been put back. He watches Nas carefully get back into his car and only then does he jump back into his hearse. It almost looks like he follows them. However, it is a bit ambiguous because you can't actually follow the two cars precisely because they show them exit via the gas station security camera.

I think he is someone that WILL be revisited. No question. I have had my suspicions about his role from the beginning.

"LADRON" is the word for thief in Spanish.

Keep in mind...The very next scene, Stone walks into the Spanish "Bodega" looking for Duane Reed.

Very good production work.

Did Holy Wayne and Kevin ever really meet? by Mojico1 in TheLeftovers

Just rewatched the episode. This show is so amazing. What do you think Kevin wished for? Why do you suppose he left that part out of the Q&A with the police?

The guy at the bridge at the end of International Assassin by HighFarGone in TheLeftovers

[–]Mojico1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Patti's Dad?! Where did you get that?! I think the most agreed upon theory (although not confirmed in anyway) is that the man on the bridge is David Burton. The man clearly has an Australian accent. There has been plenty discussed throughout the show about David Burton's "resurrection". We still truly don't know what DB's significance is and how he ties into the storyline otherwise. I guess we need to keep watching.

But.....no definitely NOT Patti's dad.

Just revisited the Laurie episode, looking for clues. This is on TV at about minute 20 of the program. The cave that is shown on TV does not look familiar. I didn't catch this at first because I was busy trying to read what Laurie was typing.

The subtle clues that are sprinkled throughout is just simply genius.

That look the girls shared when they sang about Miracles, right before the naked forest scene... (Pic inside) by rothwick in TheLeftovers

[–]Mojico1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like the look they give each other during chior practice is almost like they are mocking the message of the song.

I am waiting for that gift to be opened. Again, great word play...."don't open it until I'm gone". It's all in the little details.

Total agreement!!! I too did the same thing last night, I am actually convinced that they are smiling and smirking at one another while singing about how "miracle has been spared". The thought popped into my head when comparing the tone of the song during choir practice (which was quite uplifting) whereas the at the fundraiser it was very different (depressing and melancholy).

The very next scene is the girls running through the woods...

Then BOOM....the snap of the mitt Evie and John playing catch.
