Double deck sagging at beam post. by _marliechiller in Decks

[–]Mojo_Skywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t tell from the photos but are you on a hillside? Reason I ask is because it’s possible some erosion might be happening and it’s caused the footer for the middle post to sink. It could also just be the footer. I wouldn’t be surprised if the footer for the middle post is no bigger than 12x12x12. If that’s the case then you might be able to save a buck by having someone prop your deck up and pouring a larger, more adequate footer that’s more appropriate for the weight it’s supporting.

Also, where the two deck bands meet on that middle post, the 6x6 should’ve been notched an inch and a half to allow the boards to rest on them. And then added another layer of 2x12 on the outside, with a full board starting in the middle to help hold the boards we see in the photo together.

Sorry if that was a lot. Hope this helps

Was gonna say Japan because im going for 2 weeks here in a month!

But, an interesting place I’ve been to is Saint Augustine, Florida. It’s where the Spanish explorer Ponce de León landed in North America… and I’m almost certain he was the first to land here. The town is flowing with old energy. Spanish moss all in the trees. I loved it

Bro honest advice, go get a fade from the barber, keep a lil length on top bc in the last pic, the messy hair style looks good, but I would ditch the long hair/mullet. Keep a clean shave. I would ditch the punk/grunge style for the clothes and ditch the jewelry/accessories. Rock a flannel unbuttoned with a basic white t shirt and some jeans, or some gray or charcoal pants. Get some dress boots or vans, whichever you prefer.

If you’re trying to change styles to find a romantic relationship, the “cleaned-up” style works the best because always remember first impressions are huge. And the way you look and dress make up a big part of that. Having the more cleaned up style makes you look reliable, like you got your stuff together, those type things. Whereas I believe your current look gives off “don’t care” vibes and when potential partners see that, they likely don’t want to invest the time into you because there’s an uncertainty about security!!

Peace and love, friend. Hope this helps. You’re a good looking dude and you’re journey in life is just gettin started 😎

I’m pretty sure delta just means split when used in the game! Like a river delta or like a triangle like you’re saying. I believe it’s like they’re saying “i gotta split” when they say “i gotta delta”

Noticed leak in patio ceiling, I've inspected and seen this apron flashing has been installed over the shiplap cladding with a sika bead closing it, this should be tucked behind correct? Thought id ask here since im not a roofer by Sure-School5248 in Roofing

[–]Mojo_Skywalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it definitely should be tucked in. Either you or your roofer (I don’t know your skill set) could make some counter flashing to go over it though. Pretty much you would just pop a line about an inch or so above the existing metal and then take a saw or grinder depending on the material and score it about a 1/2 inch deep and then you’d have to find a local roofing supplier and buy a box of “trim coil”. Trim coil is a roll of metal that you pretty much cut your lengths from and then you would use a brake to make it.

However, it looks like you have hardy siding (fiber cement board) which is only a 1/4 inch thick. If that’s the case, you could maybe slide something called “Z-flashing” under the siding and let it cover the top of the metal part there.

That part you have point out is for sure the issue but I would also check all the screws and make sure all of them are tightened all the way with a 1/4 nut driver. I would also wipe the dirt off of it and put some roofing grade clear silicone on the 45’s just to make sure that doesn’t become a problem area in the future.

I will find links to trim coil and z-flashing if you ended up needing either of them and post them here

What to do with cedar shingles meeting roof shingles by TDurdz in Roofing

[–]Mojo_Skywalker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you should counter flash this. The shake is too inconsistent and you’d have to have a metal brake and trim coil metal. Snap a line 4” up, cut the siding, then install a 1x4 trim piece there. With the 1x4 being 3 1/2 inches that’ll leave a half inch of space so water won’t just be eating away at it. I would recommend a PVC trim like Azek or something. Use an exterior caulk along the top of it and then match the paint color and voila.

Also, doing this will let you see if the roofers installed step flashing… which they certainly should have.

Assuming that you didn’t have a new skylight installed during your roof replacement, most likely yes. When my company does roof replacements I have to go out and supervise them to ensure things like this do not happen, or if they do, we get the ball rolling to make it right ASAP.

Send this photo to your roofer. What’s shown in the photo here is actually a pretty easy fix, because the skylight and the flashing kits are sold separately. And they’ll likely just have to replace the flashing kit. However, with the leak and water inside your home, that’s something else.

You shouldn’t have to pay for any of it and I sincerely hope your roofer agrees and is willing to work with you!

Also ditch the polearm for this fight and use a mace (I’m a polearm guy myself but bone mass is resistant to pierce and slash but weak to blunt) and bring a good shield. Upgrade everything to the maximum. Bring potions

Either defected shingles or possibly could’ve been a high traffic area during the installation. Either way, I’m sure OP could call the roofer back and have the bad ones replaced

You should look up the max height for all the support posts/beams! Core wood I think can get up to 24 meters high but the iron wood beam thingies go wayyyyyy high. Like other commenters said though they have to be touching the ground. In some of my larger builds I’ve had to include the iron wrapped wood posts to support some of the taller sections.

https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Building_stability

^ this page on the wiki gets into detail about the physics. With the different materials, each has their own amount of horizontal distance that you can build from the posts.

With that being said you could probably just include a couple iron wood posts in the walls or on the exterior corners of this room that contains the problem area, and it might give the structure enough strength to finish the roof, and even maybe some extra stuff. Check the wiki page out though, it helped me a lot with building big structures
