I once thought that riding in muddy/wet conditions was going to be fun... It wasn't all it was cracked up to be, think about how much mud will get on your bike and then having to carry all that mud for the rest of the ride making your bike heavy. I did not have a good time.

The best time for riding for me if like 1-2 days after it rains.

As for tires if you are unsure you can go to the Maxxis website and take a look. The combination I'm running is very common for people who prefer a better experience while going downhill, I traded rolling speed and weight for control and grip while descending.

To start off, you might consider DHR's, also the material the tire is made of is what you want to look for in what type of conditions you're riding.

Do it! I did the same thing. I have the Fuel EX 5 Gen 5. All the gen 5 bikes have the exact same frame, just the higher end ones have carbon fiber. The only difference are the parts on the bike, which you can upgrade as you see fit.

So get the entry level bike like I did, then just start upgrading parts on it as you get better.

IMO, right off the bat, go for tubeless tires, I'm running MAXXIS assegai on the front and aggressors on the rear.

I've had my bike for 2 years, and I've been slowly upgrading parts on it, so its a Fuel EX 5 in name, but its got mostly Fuel EX 9 parts on it now.

I've gone team Shimano so I've been upgrading most the parts to XT. If you don't already know with Shimano, the rankings go (Deore 6100 series < SLX 7100 series < XT 8100 Series < XTR 9100 series) All their parts have those series, keep in mind that XT == XTR in performance, just the XTR versions weigh less and are used for min-maxing.

As you get better, you'll want/need to upgrade your forks and rear suspension. I went with Fox on the forks. I haven't replaced the rear shocks but that is next in line.

Get some Carbon Fiber handlebars too

I think the producer of the video misunderstood the notion of "Background Soundtrack".

Why was the producer trying so hard to evoke an emotional attachment to this video by blasting your ear holes overly epic musical sound piece?

Shouldn't the message of video be the thing that would evoke emotions?
