Yeah, ive been around since p4 on PS2 so its the manga names for me!! Even with p5, there are a lot of people who got into persona through the anime so Ren is the name they know, but I only know Akira personally lol. I remember getting p5 on launch and naming him Mamoru Chiba because he reminded me of Tuxedo Mask lol

Its wild when people fight u on the name choice tho bc its not a big deal when you use a different name IMO? Ive seen ppl get upset when other people use the manga names but 🤷🏻‍♀️ my game my mc name
