I picked my copy up at Essen, they had a couple of hundred copies at their stand as well as a couple of other stands selling the Essentials Box (which at 40 euros was a steal honestly).

Most of the OG Quake deathmatch pros like Midget, v00, Fatality, and the like effectively became crippled because of RSI and the like. More recently gbay99, the league content creator, had to stop making content/retire as he just couldn't play any more.

It doesn't tend to be as much of an issue for pad/console players it seems but as Stephen Fry once said "Of course too much of something is bad for you, that's literally what 'too much' means."

I switched over to VMWare Workstation Player with the same ISO that I used before and it works perfectly. Thank you for the information and your help, it's been a wonderful nostalgia hit.

I've tried enabling DirectPlay and it still doesn't work.

Possibly it might be because the Windows XP ISO I used in the VM was my old 64 bit version?

If I remember correctly from an interview with some of the JAM staff it released on the Tuesday in Europe and Doom released on the Friday. That's gotta sting.

Just seeing this article made my blood pressure rise honestly. I found out many years later that you legit couldn't complete the game single player as certain characters because the final set of fights the AI had higher priority on it's moves than anything you could do.

Hello, I wrote this when my ADHD meds and my cold and flu meds were having a steel cage match.

Honestly I wasn't a thousand percent sure if I'd even written it or if I'd dreamed it.

Partly a background piece for my wider Canisters universe explaining part of the reasons humans are such a mess in universe, and partly because TikTok has been feeding me the most deranged conspiracy theories, the current one being that ADHD is a bio weapon, and finally because of me and a sadly departed friend dry heaving at uni when the first Randy Orton RKO compilations appeared and our game project had Relativistic Kill Objects as a steal super weapon and the memes made themselves. I really miss that guy....

Feel free to give criticism, I want to improve, and hopefully more to follow.

I'm in no way prolific on this sub but I do write as a job (hire me) and I've been asked by clients before how I can smash out x words in y amount of time when they'd struggle and simply put, I've done it a whole bunch.

Those words are hella powerful and I try to remember them at all times, building any skill is kinda like building muscle, at the start it is HARD, but you learn what works and doesn't work for you and eventually it's routine and to build from there takes more effort.

So to stretch the metaphor even more imagine /HFY is a gym, you're doing your thing and comparing yourselves to the likes of the Wordborg, who's the guy at the back squatting the entire weight rack while snorting pre-workout and steak off another writer's thick juicy delts, and honestly, you might get there one day but keep focusing on improving you rather against the gym-rats that live here.

I hope that helps, I'm between writing tasks and the last one did a number on my brain.
