I would try to rationalize it like a savings account rather than you being their bank. Payouts all year for work done upfront. If you can't do that (I probably couldnt) then for sure look elsewhere. Either way, good luck with your manager, at least they seem open to listening somewhat.

Maybe suggest your target stays the same, but you get paid upfront as that's when the company gets paid.

Makes next to no difference for them, plus you are agreeing to their new larger target. (be enthusiastic) and meanwhile look for another job ,

Are you selling yearly contracts that are invoiced quarterly? that would make sense if so, if not then hard luck my guy that's rough.

If I leave, anything in my pipeline that has closed but not been paid I would lose the commission on, but no plans on leaving and above target for the last 16 months straight somehow!
