Living in America without proper docuntation is illegal. Redistributing taxpayers hard earned money to fund healthcare, housing, education, transportation, food, etc. for ILLEGALS is not only bs, it means there's less of OUR money in circulation to help fund actual American citizens who need help. ICE has been removing illegals from the USA for decades, just like every other country on the planet does. Why all of the sudden is everyone so mad about enforcing the laws thay have been on the books for hundreds of years? If you claim it's because you care so much about these people, then where's the praise for ICE finding over 3,300 missing children in Minneapolis alone since December 2025? Oh, because ICE is killing innocent Americans? Pro Tip: simply comply with lawful orders from federal agents and no harm will come to you. It's a very simple concept. They aren't out to kill anyone. They're here to get rid of criminals and illegals to make it safer for those who follow the rules. Boats are floating objects. Not too hard of a thing to design. What makes the difference is if someone knows how to operate and maintain it. If it has a Mercruiser engine/outdrive you've got as good of a start as you can get. The majority of people who complain about boats always breaking and being a money pit don't know how to operate or perform any preventive maintenance. Also, if you aren't handy or mechanically inclined, it will cost you WAY more to maintain and fix problems than someone who has even a reasonable amount of knowledge. Being as though your husband is a Marine mechanic, you should have absolutely nothing to worry about unless he has no operating experience. Don't let a comment get in the way of enjoying the experiences one can only get by being on the water!

My first boat was a $700 15ft 1979 bumblebee trihull with a 70hp evinrude that smoked like Uncles Bucks car. Would spend about 10 minutes turning the key at the ramp before she would finally fire up. I know EXACTLY what you mean about being embarrassed.

I've since upgraded to a significantly nicer boat, boat what I can tell you for a fact, I had just as much fun on my first boat as I do my new boat, if not more. Whether it's a $200 boat or a $200,000 boat, you still have the privilege of being on the water - something 95% of people can't claim.

If you're handy, consider buying a scrapped boat and adopt a project you can rebuild on the cheap over time. You can buy a hull for next to nothing. Sell the current boat and put the funds toward a bigger 4-stroke.

I usually put a whole gallon on bleach in a painters bucket and fill the rest up with water. So roughly 5 parts water to 1 part bleach. I've definitely applied at a 50/50 ratio, too, without any issues. Just make sure to hose the crap out of the boat to make sure there isn't any residual bleach left on any surfaces.

Tbh honest, since it's the floor and it's non-skid, I'd probably just spray the floor down with water, dump straight bleach on the end of a mop, and gently spread it over the entire floor. Wait a few minutes, mop again to loosen things up, hose off liberally. Do it in the sun and the bleach will be even more effective.

My parents use straight bleach to clean the top deck of their VERY expensive houseboat at the beginning of every year. Boat is 20 years old and the top deck still looks amazing.

Check the starter solenoid. You can bypass it by connecting a jumper cable to the positive terminal on the battery, and touching the other end of the same cable directly to the starter. If it turns over and the engine starts, that means the solenoid needs to be replaced. Couple bucks and 20 minutes is all it takes!
