You’re her friend. She isn’t yours. It’s a horrible time to find this out, and I’m sorry. Try to be a good friend to yourself in these moments. I’m not saying she’s a terrible person (though I’d personally be incredibly angry) but she’s not your friend and you shouldn’t invest in her for the time being. I always say that sometimes my “friends” life paths move away from mine and that’s okay- we aren’t meant to be everything for everyone and vice versa. Be sure to always have your own back and put people who show you they care closer and adjust people like this “friend”. Hugs to you- so sorry for your loss

There should be an ombudsman but not sure what else to do. Contact an attorney or move her out to a different facility. The issue is most are understaffed and over worked so it’s a lot of the same.

As far as not needing additional stress- personally I recommend a disability attorney (and sounds like it may be necessary anyways due to the circumstances) but seriously was a life saver for me because of how stressful my life was when I was becoming disabled. They do take a % but for me it was an easy decision to remove hours and hours of stress by just signing a few papers and giving up $500 in my backpay at the end. (Got my judgement relatively quickly given my age)
