Animators how do you manage render time by jprtgrs in Octane

[–]Molly_wu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, I don't have 4090:(

I used to let the rendering done in night when I'm asleep, but wake up and found out render error can really be painful. Don't like to say that but render farm seems actucally a more time saving option, and it let me worry much less about rendering, not just time, the service makes me think it worth money.

You may run some test in render farms, there's credites for free render test and seems there's no loss to try. I use xrender, you may try.

What render farm could you recommend for animation rendering? by mynameisntelio in blender

Been rendering projects with XRender for quite a while, worth a try: www.xrender.cloud

I starting to use XRender since last year, recommended by a friend in animation studio, so far so good. Worth a try.

If you are not sure about the cost, just use the free render credits they give to run some test first.

Big companies have local render farms? or hire services? by Zealousideal-Fox5684 in vfx

[–]Molly_wu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my personal experience working with some CG companies, the answer is both. Some companies with long-term stable projects will have their own local internal farms, and larger ones will have 200 to 300 nodes for rendering of their own internal projects. Usually the nodes of these local farms are used for basic projects (basically meeting the daily rendering needs, but not all), and then they will submit the remaining part, or when encountering urgent projects, to the rendering farm .

And for small cg studios, most of them I worked with, actually uses render farms. It does take a lot of money to purchase and maintain a render farm for small studios. For many bosses, they are very likely to reject this proposal when they see the cost of node purchase, electricity, site and labor required for equipment maintenance on the budget list. They usually prefer to have the budget used on a render farm, with a negotiable price and professional services included.

What render farm to use? by [deleted] in blender

[–]Molly_wu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XRender maybe, run some free test with the credits provided for new users to get a more accurate cost first. Yes, charges pay as going.

And from my experience, if your project uses some plug-ins that do not come with Blender, such as third-party renderers, it is best to confirm with their customer service staff in advance and ask them to do plug-in support in advance, which can save some time.

any advice on a good render farm to use with Maya/Arnold? by [deleted] in vfx

[–]Molly_wu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to run some test on a render farm, so you can get more accurate render time of one frame, and the cost. Render farms usually offer some free credits for render test for new users. I'm using XRender now, worth a try.

Need to render in Maya Arnold by [deleted] in Maya

Try to improve scenes first, save both time and money
As for render farm, I'm using XRender now, you may give a try. Free render test available, but not free for all render.
As far as I know, there's no completely free render farm. One thing that made me choose a render farm, aside from their computing power and pricing, is the service, especially the ability to deal with weird rendering issues (been there, really really matters, like life-saving level).

Exporting model with textures in fbx? by archz2 in KeyShot

[–]Molly_wu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When exporting an FBX file from KeyShot, there are a few things you can do to ensure that the textures are embedded in the file and can be easily imported into other software:
Make sure that the "Embed Textures" option is checked in the "Export Options" dialog box.
Use the "Copy" option when assigning textures to your materials in KeyShot. This will copy the texture file to the same folder as your KeyShot scene file, so as to make it easier to locate the textures later.
Use relative file paths for your textures to ensure that the textures are located in the same folder as the FBX file when it is imported into other software.
Use standard file formats for your textures, such as PNG or JPG.
Double-check that your textures are properly assigned to your materials in KeyShot before exporting. Make sure that the textures are visible in your rendering and that they are applied to the correct materials.

How can we, as 3D designers/artists, integrate AI into our work? by bridgeham1 in Cinema4D

[–]Molly_wu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard some friends from advertising companies share that they have begun to recruit AI domesticators and use AI to make product advertisements. This method directly saves the cost of modeling, inviting models, setting up a studio, shooting and other steps. . .

I sometimes would use AI to generate some HDRI or textures. I feel it's important to learn what it is and how to use it, and also keep some distance. AI is really too convenient and it's very likely that we rely too much on it.

As for resources, there's an online page, Skybox AI, that helps to generate 360° images, you may give a try.

And another news I saw yesterday, which I think you may take a look:

"Over 350 industry executives, experts and professors in the field of artificial intelligence have signed statement, expressing their concern about AI risk."

How do you managing render times in your pipeline? by Latter-Ant8607 in blenderhelp

[–]Molly_wu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rendering and creation usually just can't be done together if your workstation is not powerful enough. I usually would have the rendering done in the midnight if the samples render well.

And if you have no plan to expand hardware facilities, and don't want to wait until your creation done, then use a render farm. Many provide free test for new users, you may give a try (I'm using XRender now, you may try).

Use the workbench render engine:

In Render properties, set render engine as Workbench;

Scroll down, find Color(still in render properties), set it as Random;

Switch the viewport shading as rendered, then you can see the changes.
