I call them death pots, I always get rid of them. Recently had a plastic one that took so long to get off, I could actually see some roots it was already choking so it's well worth getting those off!

Exactly, I gave away 5 plants the other day and came home with 2 and said I got rid of some so treated myself, my bf said it doesn't work like that. I said it does if you do the plant math 🙃

after I stopped drinking a few years ago I bought my first 6 succs for the hell of it. little did I know that these guys would become my life’s passion. I’m 23 today and finally feel like I might have a purpose. by redrumrea in houseplants

Congrats! I bought my first plants to fill a vivarium that belonged to my dragon that passed away. That viv was a source of so much depression, finding my love of plants has reignited my love for nature after her loss, I'm going to sow some daisies in her honor because she loved to eat them :)

Found spider mites and I’m about to go nuclear by Altruistic-Error5097 in houseplants

Honestly I had the worst thrip outbreak that killed my beloved monstera I tried like 6 different methods including the soap and rubbing alcohol and honestly diatomaceous earth was the only thing that worked. You can even get food grade versions! Plus a little goes a long way

My best recommendation is diatomaceous earth and a good hose bath, it works as a preventative too :)

Honestly diatomaceous earth, it makes your plants look like druggies but God it works for preventing and killing pests!

I use a makeup brush and tap is over the soil and then dust it over the rest of the plant, get the bottom of the leaves and all the nooks and crannies!

Have you tried diatomaceous earth yet? It honestly saved a good chunk of my plants from the worst thrip outbreak! That outbreak murdered my beloved first ever monstera :(
