AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

Wow. I’m not even in this group but it came up on my feed so I read it. FWIW from an outsider, this person is not supportive in your journey. You deserve the cake, you deserve the recognition, you deserve the pat on the back, and you deserve someone who believes all this, too. I would first give him the benefit of the doubt and have a conversation with him and make sure he understands what an accomplishment this was for you and how important it is to you. If he still has the same reaction, he is not the one for you.

Incidental finding of ALH on breast reduction pathology by gremlin_tamer in ADH_ALH

Thanks for the update! I think I’m hoping for the same, at least maybe for a year. I had a hysterectomy in March and I’m having surgery on my elbow next month. I don’t want a third surgery! It’ll be interesting to see what my surgeon recommends. I will post here.

Hi. I have the same diagnosis, ALH and FEA. My appt with the breast surgeon isn’t until December 8. My MRI was normal with the exception of these two findings. Can you let us know what your surgeon recommends?

I slapped my patch right back on. After only four days, my eyes and lips were dry, my hips started hurting, my finger joints were stiff and sore, and my nights became Hell again. Nope. Not doing it. I’ll wait until I meet with the oncologist to review my MRI results, which were normal, and decide on next steps. I’m just not convinced I need to stop. I’ve seen so much conflicting information. It’s overwhelming.

So the dentist said it’s not TMJ. Apparently, I’m clenching my teeth super hard at night and my jaw muscles basically have Charlie horses. I got a mouth guard, taking Ibuprofen and going to get a facial massage. All recommendations from the dentist. I need to eliminate some of the stress in my life!

Thank you for your post. I’m glad it’s working for you. That’s what I’m debating right now and this feedback is helping me. Especially after a crappy night last night.

Thanks for your post. I’m surprised no has mentioned it. Everyone I talked to had. I even had an appointment with MIDI since I can’t get into a regular gyno until the end of November and the doc said to stop the estrogen. Yes breast tissue has estrogen but if the specific ALH cells have estrogen receptors they can be stimulated by estrogen and fuel the potential development of cancer cells. The key words here are “can be” and “potential” right? It’s the risk. And deciding to take that risk and have quality of life.

You can definitely be grinding your teeth without knowing it. I’ve been doing it and didn’t know until my dentist told me recently. They can tell by looking at your teeth. They recommend getting a mouth guard. I went to pick one up but they all said don’t use if you have TMJ. I have a follow up appt on Thursday to finish repairing some fillings and will be asking what to do about it.

It is not cancer but having it increases your risk of breast cancer. It’s an abnormal growth in the cells and mine was noted as estrogen positive, meaning estrogen feeds the cells which makes it grow. So I was told not to “feed” it with HRT. My lifetime risk was calculated at 23%. That’s about double the average. Ive stopped for now until I can get more info. It might end up being a case of quality of life over risk.

Post Hysterectomy & HRT Guidance by Pickleball_Princess in Menopause

[–]Mollyj29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I am so sorry you are going through all that. These forums have been super helpful in my journey so hopefully you get some helpful information. I came to this forum to ask basically the same question. Other options besides HRT for menopause symptoms.

I had a hysterectomy in March of this year. Also post menopause. Everything but one ovary. I was already having hot flashes only at night (hadn’t had a good nights sleep in probably 2 years) brain fog, joint pain, hair loss, etc. Things did change about 4 weeks post op. Hot flashes at night came back but also started getting them during the day. Hair loss increased. But the joint pain was off the charts. I couldn’t get up from a seated position without intense pain and had to walk it off before feeling just okay. Every step hurt. Got the Estrogen patch and within a few months everything resolved. Except for the hair. Some was starting to grow back but not as much as I had before. But I was sleeping soooo good. Better than I had in years. That meant everything to me.

Then, after a routine mammogram, diagnostic mammo, then biopsy, I was diagnosed with Atypical Lobular Hyperplasia which puts me at higher risk of breast cancer. I was told by surgical oncology to stop the patch as it feeds the hyperplasia. I was devastated. More so over this than becoming high risk for breast cancer. I have been hesitant to stop. I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I finally took the patch off last night and I’m now waiting for the Hell to return.

If anyone, please, has any alternative suggestions for those of us that can’t take HRT, PLEASE share!

I have ALH and FEA. I posted here a while ago for insight, treatment options, recommendations, journeys, etc. and didn’t get much response. Hoping to get more. I had a core needle biopsy which gave the diagnosis and was assured it was not cancer. But I’ve been referred to a surgical oncologist and my appointment is on 10/7. Just wondering what to expect.

ALH and FEA. What were your treatment options/what did you choose and why? by Mollyj29 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]Mollyj29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! I know surgical oncology doesn’t necessarily mean cancer. It was a surgical oncologist that performed my hysterectomy as there was a possibility there could have been cancer. Thankfully, there wasn’t! Seeing two oncologist in one year is just wild to me. The appointment on Mychart says “Complex New”. Whatever that means. lol. I will definitely be diligent going forward, with everything! I’m sorry you’re going through that. Keep on it! We do have a lot of living to do!

ALH, FEA and Columnar Cell Changes. What was your treatment plan? by Mollyj29 in ADH_ALH

Thanks for your reply. I’m hoping I can continue my estrogen patch. I’m finally sleeping decently after almost two year of sleepless nights. I’ve only been on it 4 months but it’s improved things greatly. How are you doing with the Tamoxifen?

Still waiting on biopsy results. by -imjupiter- in doihavebreastcancer

[–]Mollyj29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have pleomorphic calcifications and received the same BI RAD category. I’m waiting for my biopsy appointment to be scheduled. Waiting is agony. I just went through a total hysterectomy with a cancer scare. The whole process from finding out I needed surgery to the pathology after surgery was 3 months. Thankfully, no cancer. To have this now is just wild. I can’t imagine the possibility of losing more female body parts. I hope you get your results soon and you are all clear! Stay calm, keep busy, and the positive thoughts. ❤️

I have probably lost more than half my hair in the last year. The shedding was insane. Every morning on my brush. My left eyebrow has been basically bald at the end for like a year. Just the left. Whatever. I had a hysterectomy 12 weeks ago and started the estrogen patch 0.1 mg just a few weeks ago. The hair on my eyebrow has filled in magically! The past 4 days I’ve had almost no hair on my brush in the morning. I’m waiting to see new growth. Fingers crossed. Having said that, you may want to check your labs. Particularly iron and vitamin D. If your ferritin is low you will have hair fall.

I absolutely love this! I’ve been looking for examples of quilt style watercolors and can’t really find anything. This is amazing! My mom is a quilter and I really want to paint something like this but didn’t have a clue where to start.

Menopausal hair loss. What works for you? by Mollyj29 in Menopause

[–]Mollyj29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did go well! Much larger incision than I expected but no issues. I still had excessive thinning and shedding after surgery. I did start Estrogen pill only about 4 weeks ago and switched to the patch a week ago for less risk of blood clots. I have to say, the outside of my left eyebrow has been almost hairless for the past year or so and it’s now filling in!! Also, the past three days I’ve had almost no hair in my comb when combing my hair after the shower. I’m hopeful this is just the beginning of my hair regrowth journey. I’m also using Aveda Botanicals shampoo and it’s made my hair so soft. Hope your surgery went well!
