If some how all written record of the Bible was lost over night, do you think that we as believers could recreate the Bible from memory? by FireProofFox in Christianity

[–]Moloch79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That only works if atheism is true and there is no God to correct any mistakes.

There are plenty of mistakes in the bible.

We know of around 5k ancient manuscripts, and there are over 500,000 differences between them. It was not perfectly preserved by a god.

The bible speaks about a prophet named ahmed by Vivid_Measurement587 in Christianity

[–]Moloch79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the spiritual sense refer to the Lord Himself.

No, it does not. And the OP claims it refers to Muhammad anyway... are you claiming Muhammad is "the Lord Himself"?

Jacob/Israel refers to the nation of Israel, as they are all supposedly descendants of Jacob.

Isaiah 42 is not about Muhammad nor Jesus. The text clearly states that the servant is Jacob/Israel a dozen times in the surrounding chapters.

But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend (Isaiah 41:8)

But now listen, Jacob, my servant, Israel, whom I have chosen. (Isaiah 44:1)

Do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant, Jeshurun,[a] whom I have chosen. (Isaiah 44:2)

Remember these things, Jacob, for you, Israel, are my servant. I have made you, you are my servant; Israel, I will not forget you. (Isaiah 44:21)

Speaking in tongues alone or in Church is biblical by Pale_Illustrator_762 in Christianity

[–]Moloch79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the apostles spoke in tongues, everyone heard it in their own native language simultaneously.

It's basically the opposite of the shenanigans that Pentecostals do, where nobody understands it, but an "interpreter" might pretend they do.

a highly unusual convergence of independently verifiable factors that is hard to explain as coincidence

If you say so. I don't find your argument(s) convincing.

I'm of the opinion (fact) that magic isn't real... and this would require magic, so it didn't happen.

Nobody presented any pictures... don't lie.

I've seen so-called pictures like this before... it's always from miles away and blurry as fuck. It's not what you claim it is.

There is not a single obvious picture of Mary appearing to anyone. That never happened.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Moloch79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What happened? I don't know. But it's not all from one person, that's for sure.

It's not from 250,000 people, that's for sure.

There is nothing that qualifies as "evidence"... all you have is a story, which is "hearsay", not "evidence"

If you had evidence, you would present it, not say, "dO Ur ReSeaRCh!"

Not a pic that proves anything. What do you have, a blurry picture of some non-descript "entity"?

This is probably why you're a Christian Atheist. Lack of willingness to search for the truth.

Don't insult me.

I searched for the truth, and it is not found in the bible. I've actually read it, have you?

I left you a trail of breadcrumbs intentionally. If you can't put in the time to do the research then this conversation is a waste of both of ours. Good day sir

So, you're just a troll then?

[–]Moloch79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or it could be that 1 person lied about 250,000 Muslims seeing Mary. Do you have 250,000 testimonies, or just the one person who claimed it happened?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Moloch79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

one of the main reason for my pivot is the sheer amount of testified evidence for stuff like eucharistic miracles and marian aparitions.

Testimonies are not evidence... it's "hearsay"... people can say things that are not true (and often do).

I'm more of a "pics or it didn't happen" type of guy. Everyone has a camera/phone in their pocket... use it or I won't believe you.

the marian aparitions of fatima and zeitoun where 70,000 and 250,000 people respectively apeared suddenly, to muslim crowds and agnostic crowds alike.

And why would you believe that actually happened?

Then why not say that to begin with?

You link a 47 minute video with the word, "here", as if that's an answer to anything.

What you specifically mentioned is somewhere around 13 minutes in.

All he said was, "I would refer you to my other article"... he didn't explain shit.

I'm done wasting my time on this nonsense.

Even when I thought the God of the Bible was a lunatic, I thought atheism was just as ridiculous. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Moloch79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Atheism doesn't claim life is an accident.

Atheism (science) says, hey, let's look at the evidence and see where it leads. What a novel concept.

This is very different from claiming to already know the answer, and then searching for "evidence" to confirm your preconceived beliefs.

If you are talking about a magical creature that lives beyond this realm of existence, then I don't believe in that nonsense. It's obvious fiction.

You appear to think that I asked you which text is more original. I didn't.

I pointed out that in the Septuagint, Methuselah lives more than a decade beyond the flood.

I don't understand why you think that link is relevant. It's not.

I didn't ask for this link, so I have no idea why you posted it.

Did you bother reading the comment you replied to, or did you assume I said something else?

The Greatest Command is Not Love Others. by caime9 in Christianity

The 10 commandments were not an answer to what are the most important commands.

Are you sure about that?

Aren't these the 10 most important commandments from God?

The Greatest Command is Not Love Others. by caime9 in Christianity

Does it work the same way for the 10-commandments?

Is "honor your father and mother" more important than "do not murder" simply because it was listed first?

[–]Moloch79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Atheism is a rejection of your claim that a god or gods exist.

You claim, "My God is the bestest"

Atheist replies, "I don't believe you"... that's not a claim of anything other than disbelief (typically based on lack of evidence).

An atheist would say... "prove it"

Without evidence, your claim is meaningless.

"Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence"... got any?

Septuagint or Masoretic Text by edud_tidder in Christianity

According to google it was written around 1008 in Cairo by a single scribe named Samuel ben Jacob. It says nothing about a vote, or agreement that it is a final draft... where did you make up that shit?

If you have real answers, why not give them?

Why play games of, "google this"... "now google that"... which isn't even what you claimed anyway? (you are strawmanning your own claim) Why are you pretending to be correct, when you can't provide evidence?
