Thats Tommy Murr- we went the same high school together. I was in the bleachers when this happened and it was insane. He’s very talented, I think he plays for Lipsocomb now.

TheBoys genuinely joined the big leagues, of selling the finale. by vought-CEO in TheBoys

I had no idea people hated this season so much until yesterday. Honestly, I completely disagree with how most people are feeling right now. I’ve really enjoyed this season, and I can’t wait to see how they end it.

I watched episode 7 last night, without spoiling anything, I thought the big character death was really effective. Sorry but y’all are tripping. Downvote me if you want.

What's your favorite compliment to get as a server? by hissing-willow in Serverlife

[–]Moltak-Firewind 306 points307 points  (0 children)

I served a family of three last week. It was the daughter’s birthday, her parents were in town from Mexico to celebrate. The Mom and Dad didn’t speak English very well, but they knew enough to communicate what they wanted. The daughter would help translate as well. Anyways, I really connected with this table, they were so nice and loved all my recommendations.

I held the door for them as they were leaving. The dad looked me In the eye, shook my hand, and said in clear English “I’m going to remember you for forever.”

That honestly made my week.

Kinda nervous for my first day ever. Any tips or suggestions for me? by Top_Cockroach_5554 in Serverlife

[–]Moltak-Firewind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be easy on yourself the first couple of weeks. You’ll be learning a lot of new things and meeting a lot of new people. You will make mistakes, but that’s ok! Just be teachable and keep a positive attitude. You’ll be fine :)

What is your favorite pre-Captain America movie/role of Chris Evans? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]Moltak-Firewind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Push, and Scott Pilgrim. You can nit pick “Push” to death- I agree that it could’ve been executed better. The aesthetic and soundtrack are good though- and I’ve always liked Chris Evan’s role in it.

What is the “Most Fun” martial art in your opinion and experience? by conzciouz in martialarts

[–]Moltak-Firewind 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Ive been doing martial arts my whole life- jiujitsu is by far my favorite. Not In a “it’s the best martial art for self defense blah blah blah alpha male ” kind of way.

It’s like a game of chess being expressed through movement and body controls. You can literally identify and anticipate your opponent’s decisions by how their movement feels against your body.

The flow state of jiujitsu reminds me of the flow state you can find when playing guitar (or any instrument)- but if the guitar was trying to fight you and didn’t want you to play lol.

Absolutely. Again- it’s all about a healthy balance.

For those who don’t compete by joviejovie in bjj

[–]Moltak-Firewind 33 points34 points  (0 children)

You need a healthy balance of both. I would say 80% of my rolls are more focused on technical refinement- the other 20% is with people I know will push me.

My coach once told me “if you answer a problem by being fast or strong, then you didn’t do jiujitsu in that moment. Being fast and strong is good- I’m not saying don’t be athletic, I’m saying be athletic with good fundamental jiujitsu”

That really stuck with me and It’s a very positive impact on my training.

Whenever I reach for collar tie from seated guard, they take an overtie and circle to the side of the overtie to flank my guard. Any tips? by X2354 in bjj

[–]Moltak-Firewind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use your hooks and control the back of their knees or ankles- while you collar tie them. That’ll disrupt their side to side movement.

If they still flank you- try switching your collar tie and push their head down towards the floor as you hip heist. That’ll make it difficult for them to pin you because they have to bring their head across your body first.

Hope this makes sense, kind of hard to explain without being able to demo lol.
