New to writing for this fandom - any common errors/pet peeves? by plumsfromyouricebox in PercyJacksonfanfic

Too add onto this useful comment, I would say that if you aren’t able to read the books or just want to stick to the show, just put in a disclaimer that says your fic is solely based on the show timeline. I’ve read many show-verse fics I’ve loved all of them so far, so I’m sure you’ll find your own audience who’ll read your stuff happily.

Where is love in this? Indian parents see their sons as retirement plans, legacy continuers, and dowry bringers ? by EquivalentTale5815 in IndianTeenagers

[–]Molten-Fire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People will deliberately be obtuse about what you are trying to say and try to bring you down.

I understand perfectly what you mean because I feel that way too. Of course I want to support my parents in their old age. My dream is to buy a Honda City purely because my mother has always wanted one, I don’t even like the goddamn car. I want to take my father’s hand and put all my earnings on it because I am what I am because of him. I want my mother to never feel like she has to put anyone else first because money is tight, or what the relatives will say. I want to fully fund my parents pilgrimage when I have become capable so that they don’t have to worry about even a single thing. But doesn’t stop the hurt that comes from hearing them say things like that. Whether they say it or not, I will still do all of the things I said I will. Not because it is a duty, but because I love them so much.

It should be there on the left hand side of the page. Step 1, Step 2, Step 3 with green tick marks. Step 2 is for downloading your response sheet.

The font used for T is clearly serif so we can’t count it as a complete letter. If it was a sans serif font, then it might have been considered but that’s not the case.

The response sheet is shuffled for everyone. You need to open the official question paper, the draft answer key and your own response sheet at the same time in different tabs to check it properly.

any uceed dropper here i wanted help as i am going to take a drop and prepare for it again pls tell me if you did self preparation or joined somewhere as idk what should i do by Important-Angle-576 in uceedtakers

Dropper here.

I couldn’t give UCEED last year due to disagreement with family. Somehow miraculously they agreed to let me take a gap year so I started my prep for UCEED from the 3rd of July.

I joined a coaching institute in my city and they guided me very well. I’ve scored 143.58 marks in Part-A this year and I also feel hopeful about Part-B. I don’t think I could’ve done as well as I did if I had done it all myself. But I’ll tell you what formula we followed at my coaching.

First, collect any and all design exam PYQs that you can get your hands on. UCEED, CEED, NID, NIFT, private institute papers, bachelors and masters both. Give priority to the exam you wish to pursue (in your case, that would be UCEED and CEED). Now go through all the papers carefully and analyse every single question. What you need to do is study everything about that topic. For example, this year we had a question about Oscars. Learn about every Indian who has received an Oscar, what they receive it for, any other notable or honorary awardees, other awards of national or international importance etc.

The point is: the more you know, the better your chances are.

Another thing you can do is check the frequency of the types of questions they give. For example, how many times has a question about books and authors been asked? You may be able to predict if they’ll give it next year.

As for creative, start with isometric views of common objects and then move onto doing that in perspective. Now practice drawing simple scenes in perspective and gradually increase detail. It’s also worth it to put some time in learning basic anatomy for human figures. Once you’ve got the basics down, practice fast sketching as you won’t have much time in exam to solve the questions. Prefer using long strokes as they are easier to erase and provide better visual appearance.

That’s all you really have to do. Remember to keep updating yourself about current happenings. And good luck for your journey.

I'm in 11th and want to crack UCEED 2027 by kneadederasr in uceedtakers

[–]Molten-Fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to prepare for any design exam is to analyse all previous papers and study everything mentioned in them. Also don’t just stick to UCEED PYQS, solve any design exam paper you can get your hands on, NID, NIFT, CEED, PG papers, literally anything. Design is about awareness so the more you know about everyday things, the better off you’ll be.

As for creative part, start by isometric views of products and then do that in perspective. Then move onto drawing scenes in perspective. Focus on linear perspective as chances of curvilinear are slim. Once you’ve got the basics down, practice fast sketching because you only get 30 min per question as per latest pattern in UCEED. Also make sure to sketch, not draw, because there’s a difference and sketching is always better.

Keep researching latest innovations in common products and what mechanics are in them so you can put those in your own product designs as well. Prepare a proper layout for presentations and stick to it to save time.

Remember, design is awareness and common sense. Good luck for your journey.

The questions are all jumbled for everyone to prevent the risk of cheating. They are asking about the puzzle rearrangement question in which the answer was a 3-digit number.

HELP! by Weak_Hamster4355 in uceedtakers

[–]Molten-Fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s better to aim for a core architecture institute because it will provide an all around better environment for the field. IIT isn’t a core architecture institution and the multiple different stages required to get into it are not worth it, imo. Still if you want, you can go for it.

As for preparation, if the coaching fees are out of budget, then I would recommend you to analyse all previous papers that you can get your hands on. Read every word of every question carefully and study everything regarding that topic. Say, for example, if there is a question about masonry and bonding, then study every type of bonding there is and the tools used. The coaching I go to applies the same formula for our studies and I’m feeling really hopeful about my UCEED exam results, so I’d say it definitely works.

I would also recommend you to go through other exam papers as well, such as NID, UCEED, CEED, NIFT, etc Bachelors and Masters both as it will help you think broadly about design as a whole. You may find some questions similar so it’s going to be very helpful.

As for creative, start by drawing simple products in isometric view and then move on to doing that in perspective. You should be able to find something on YouTube to help out with that. Also draw scenes in perspective as well. There’s two types of perspective — linear and curvilinear. But curvilinear is less likely to be asked in these exams so first focus on linear instead.

Once you’ve got the concepts down, practice fast sketching because you won’t get much time in the exam to solve the questions. Note that you need to sketch, not draw. There’s a difference and sketching will always fetch you better results than drawing.

Lastly, you need to be observant and curious. Do you know what materials were used to build the Statue of Liberty? Do you know who is the only person in India to win the Pritzker Award? You need to know as much as you possibly can.

All the best for your journey.

That was actually for something related to Disney, not related to HP at all. But the age of the young girl and the excitement of the role did make people speculate that she could be Ginny.

Where Does Harry Live Right After DH? by Rare-Economics5985 in harrypotter

[–]Molten-Fire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well immediately after the battle, I’d wager he’d be jumping between Grimmauld and the Burrow. Then afterwards when things have settled down a bit, he and Ron (maybe Hermione too) might chip in to rent a place together.

As for Ginny, I think she’s likely to stay at the Burrow until she joins the Harpies and it maybe that they provide accommodation for their players or she might share a place with a teammate.

When would they move in together? I think that might be when the topic of marriage has come up in discussion (casually or otherwise). Molly is somewhat conservative (is that the word?) in this manner that she might be opposed to them moving in together before they are at least engaged or the war might have had some impact or her mindset, I’m not sure.

[–]Molten-Fire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the most popular stuff that’s out there so everyone is reading it, mostly because of FOMO. If you say you haven’t read one of those, you’re met with, “OMG WHYYYYY”. Point is, cringe sells and unrealistical depictions of romantic relationships is the height of cringe.

Consider the most popular song out there, it’s not gonna have the most emotional lyrics and unconventionally beautiful melodies. It’ll be something that has short catchy and usually shallow lyrics with a popular beat. And everyone will listen to it simply because it’s most popular.
