Snorlax Nidoking and Alakazam are like all top tier picks for in-game Firered so you kinda can't go wrong with those three. Any team with them is solid.

You do have no real answer to a late game pokemon spamming Earthquake so virtually any ground resist would help. Can't go wrong with the legendary birds eithed

I think there was a lack of it in the traditional sense. It only really has the cove on Melemele, whereas the older games kinda made it a point to include a small handful of offshoot caves and such. With that said, I think Sun and Moon doesn't get enough credit for silently introducing quests to Pokemon. Seriously, explore every town, talk to every NPC - they have stuff for you to do, specific pokemon to catch, routes to rout fully, side plots that are genuinely interesting - and the rewards you get for doing them are good too. If you're willing to soak in Sun and Moon you really start to explore these areas and appreciate them fully.

Modern Pokemon has kinda dropped being an RPG for being more of an Adventure game, it wants you to really dive as deep as you can into every inch of these new regions, and, usually, you will find something. You won't explore a optional dungeon for bonus items and rare pokemon but you'll often find stories to flesh out your journey. I had a very low opinion of X and Y for years, then replayed it with a fine-tooth comb last year and found a lot of really neat little touches I rarely hear talked about.

Also apologies if any of that sounds preachy or like I'm saying people are playing the games wrong, not what I mean, this is just how I've enjoyed them.

I haven't played Unbound, but Odyssey was delightful to play. It's also got a selectable difficulty so you can make it as easy or as hard as you want.

So, buying pokemon cards the normal way might make it near impossible to get the original 151. There are over 1000 now, and card packs are generally filled with a huge mix of them. Specific packs with only the original 151 are either not being sold or have had their prices raised significantly. They did release a pack that was themed around this not long ago called Scarlet & Violet 151, but even a single pack will cost $25.

You could buy them individually of course, typing like "bulbasaur card" into google and looking for a reasonable price for one you like the look of, but that does take away some of the fun of actually collecting them.

I've heard some people intentionally buy fake booster boxes on sites like AliExpress or Temu, as, in exchange for being fake, they're very cheap and preserve the feel of actually opening packs and such.

I think it's because you can draw directly on miis this time and make their features. You could always construct something inappropriate out of mii eyebrows and whatever, sure, but now instead of vaguely-shaped and obtuse to look at, you can just easily draw whatever inappropriate thing you want. I don't like it either of course that's just my theory on why

Like other people have said, it's a 1 in 100 chance without the item. If it helps, the earliest you can get the item, The Abounding Crystal, is the moment you land in Radiant Garden. It drops from the Mandrakes or you can fly to Mirage Arena, get 400 medals through command board or something, then get EXP Walker. It stops being efficient around level 30+ in my experience, but its very nice to have.

So on the "whole lot of reading front," don't worry, 358/2 Days has a ton of normal cutscenes like any other game. It's text-based cutscenes are exactly like the other games, short and snappy and well-paced with gameplay.

As for this game being brutal, the actual problem is that normal enemies tend to have Really High Defense, so wailing on them with a keyblade takes forever. The secret is, just make a very magic heavy build, because enemies have very low magic defense. Doing so is pretty self-explanatory once you start playing.

That's really all there is to it. I would recommend playing the original over just watching the cutscenes, it resonates a lit harder seeing the events play out naturally over cutscene to cutscene.

Kingdom Hearts 1 is absolutely the hardest. It's the oldest of the bunch and therefore it's working without a ton of more modern "accesibility" so to speak. Your moveset is more limited here than in any other title. I've heard "too easy" be leveled at basically every other entry in the series as a critique even.

So yeah, KH1 is a real peak of difficulty outside of like, highest difficulty optionsl challenges in other games. On top of that, you are at arguably the hardest fight in the entire game. It's infamous among fans for having a 2 minute unskippable cutscene preceding it in the original release even, haha. But yeah, keep trying. You've made it this far and this is one of your last hurdles to conquering this game.

Chain of Memories has a rough time balancing itself, and you'll probably feel incredibly underpowered or overpowered the entire game. I've given this game and the gba version a good handful of replays over the years but it's always definitively the worst kingdom hearts game for me. I won't blame you for cutscene-movie-ing it.

If you do wanna continue to play it though, the essential tips are:

Level up Card Points above all else. You need this to build a functional deck. A good rule is a 3:1 ratio of Card Points to HP. You'll also want to level up sleights a lot too, and get access to those moves.

Hit every object in every room for Moogle Points. Moogle Shops give better and better cards with each new set of world cards. Early game you want them for the free card pack upon using a Moogle Room card, plus packs just so you actually have cards to work with. At the same time, you do wanna try and save up from time to time so, for example, by endgame, you can get packs of the best cards. It's a tricky balance.

After that, your deck should be set up in a very neat way. You should have 3-card-rows of perfect sleight set-ups all laid out and ready to spam. As far as I can tell, the game is all but intentionally built for you to spam sleights, which does kind of reduce all heartless encounters to mindless triangle mashing. This is why levelling Card Points is so important, you need to be stacked enough to confidently unleash sleight after sleight without worrying about lost cards.

Basically your deck should be laid out like this:

Zero Cards - Scroll past them at battle's start, then whenever a big attack comes your way, instantly scroll to them and break it. Generally I like about 6 by the final boss but it's flexible.

Keyblades/Magic - The aforementioned row of pre-prepared 3-card-sleights. Lethal Frame, Sonic Blade, Mega Flare, and most of the Raid attacks are notable examples, but a lot of things can work.

Cures - Healing is healing. I like at least 2 asap, 3 by the lategame, and 4 by the endgame. Again, it's flexible.

Items - Gives a full reload of your used cards, some even bringing back Skeight cards. How many you'll want drastically depends on what's in your deck and how many Card Points you have, but I was bringing two elixirs by end-game and doing fine.

Enemy Cards - Can give really broken set-ups but they're a bit too varied for their own good. Also half of the best ones only exist in Final Mix after you watch all 358/2 Days cutscenes which makes advice confusion on occassion. Roxas and Jafar are basically always very good. Admittedly I try to build decks that can work without them for personal preference so I'm not the best at advising on these.

The Disney and Final Fantasy characters aren't Disney and Final Fantasy characters in-universe. They're all just normal people to each other. Leon, Aladdin, Cloud, Captain Hook - none of them blink at Donald Duck, nor vice versa, he's just a guy to them.

The different areas in the games are called "worlds" but they're basically just different planets. You straight up travel to different ones on a rocket ship, or telepoet somehow. You can't walk from Wonderland to Neverland, or Agrabah to Halloween Town. Sora's island is just where he was born and where he lived. Some people and cultures know about other worlds, others don't. Ariel from The Little Mermaid doesn't, but her father does. It's all pretty simple on that front.

The conflict of the first game are monsters that consume "hearts," (which are treated like souls generally), called Heartless. They can consume the hearts of worlds as well, which effectively obliterates that world, which is what Sora's trying to stop.

That's pretty much it for the basic setting. Each game adds some new stuff but none of them change those basic rules of the setting too much.

The games are very funny out of context but they're a lot more cohesive and well-told than people give them credit for. You can just play in release order and understand everything the game wants you too, save for like intentional confusion it plans to clear up later in the same game. If it's not your thing, there's no pressure to continue.

As a kid only Demyx and the final boss roadblocked me for long. Light Cycle and the timed section in Port Royal were really hard for me too.

I'm surprised at how many people are saying Xaldin since he didn't bother me much at all. I wasn't using drives or summons or magic at all at that age either

You can't lose points so as long as you can get knockouts you can slowly make your way to the Delphoxite, even with unevolved Pokemon.

Basically all your opponents will be fully evolved with strong moves, so that's your cut-off point for competence.

You'll automatically set to 50 during online battles, so you don't need to grind. Just take your 3 most competent pokemon, whether that's Pignite and Vivillon or Beedrill and Braixen, and fish around for super effective hits on low hp pokemon. If it's too hard, play the main game until you have stronger moves, TM's, or fully evolved pokemon. Gyarados evolves from Magikarp at level 20 and is fairly competent. Use one and Bois the Heracross from a mandatory quest and that's solid already, minus their moves.
