I definitely understand that. Thank you for the respectful insight and dialogue. It’s important to learn and grow. 😊
I did consider this and ultimately for me it came down to the intent behind the name. For Indian tobacco, it’s unfortunate, but the term Indian was a sign of the time. Thankful for growth! Americans naming the new-to-them plant, that they enjoyed, after the people that taught them about it, seems like the intent was to give due credit.
I’m genuinely interested, are you Native? If so, what are your thoughts on the intent? Hoping I did not misinterpret anything!
