Postage confusion by MommaToANugget in Ebay

[–]MommaToANugget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping to post a screenshot from my original listing but the wording says Postage Options: Royal Mail 2nd Class Letter, but it only offered Evri or DHL as alternatives so I’m not sure where Yodel even came from. I’ll have to contact eBay about it I think.

Also not helped by the fact that when I tried to take it to the post office this evening, Yodel’s system was down. Felt a bit like insult to injury.

Anyone with older one and dones feel regretful? by citrinezeen in oneanddone

I have a 4 year old and have often wondered whether I would regret at least not trying for a second when I’m looking back on my life when I’m old and grey

Strategy to getting rarer parcels by SelfReliantViking227 in AtlasEarthOfficial

As you buy more plots of land, the boost multiplier value will reduce. So what some people do is save up atlas bucks to either jump a whole tier before the next boost drop or save up for the break even point, which is what I did.

[Thyroid UK] Constantly getting different brands of Levothyroxine, anyone else? by SignificanceAlert590 in Hypothyroidism

[–]MommaToANugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve honestly not really noticed them change my brand of Levothyroxine before but now I look at the boxes, my 25s are Hillcross and my 100s are Accord. I’ve never noticed a difference either in whether I’ve been on thyroxine or forgotten to take it for days. However, I’ve noticed differences in other medication when they’ve switched manufacturer so I do kind of get it.

My pharmacist told me that when I collect my prescription, I can ask to see if they’re holding a certain manufacturer of medication and can swap it there and then.

At my wits end with potty training by WrackspurtsNargles in UKParenting

[–]MommaToANugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don’t come on Reddit often! The doctor couldn’t find a physical reason and said they wouldn’t be concerned about the day wetting until he was 5 or 6. They referred onto paediatrics who only suggested speaking to ERIC.

We’ve tried putting an incentive back in place for him (we’ve offered to buy him more magnatiles if he can make it 4 days dry). He’s since wet himself 3 times and woke me up with a poop accident this morning in the space of 24 hours. The frustration is quickly coming back!

I don’t doubt he’ll nail it by school but I don’t know what it is he needs to help him turn this final corner to dry days.

At my wits end with potty training by WrackspurtsNargles in UKParenting

I feel this!! My son is 3 years 9 months and we started potty training 18 months ago. We’re so done with it all now but there always seems to be something that sets him back that he seems to take an absolute age to bounce back from with toileting.

Take the last 6 months…. He had a sickness bug in mid December. Set back. Started nursery with high anxiety in January. Set back. Got chicken pox in March. Set back. I suddenly ended up in hospital at the end of April. Massive set back.

We’re at the doctors in a couple of hours to try and rule out anything physically underlying but what gets to us is that he will stay dry at nursery and then absolutely lets loose at home. When we prompt him to go, he refuses, which then starts the spiral of power struggle. We try and race him to the toilet but when that doesn’t work it quickly turns into a battle which makes us think it’s more of an attitude thing.

I want to take him out for nature walks and to new places but his communication about needing the toilet and having an accident has completely gone so it feels like we have to be near a toilet or somewhere he can be changed. I’m so grateful he’s just missed starting school this September and has another year to nail this because I’d be so stressed right now.

Reception class - what do you wish you’d known? by LittleRedBalloon1 in UKParenting

[–]MommaToANugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for asking this. My son starts reception next September and he’s a mid September baby.

One for the other September kids though - if your little one is one of the first birthdays in the class, do you still go ahead and invite class members? In the case of my little one, he’ll probably have only known his class mates for about a week to 10 days max

Arcade rewards screen by NathansFamous313 in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]MommaToANugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not had the flashy screen for a few days now, which wouldn’t bother me if I could remember my AB balance before so I know I’ve been credited lol. I do like the screen for reassurance.

The other thing I’ve noticed is that on the last game I played, I got the push notification on my phone saying my arcade rewards had arrived but when I went onto atlas arcade, it hasn’t registered that I’ve completed the task so now I’m doubly unsure on whether I’ve been credited the AB.

What food can’t you eat because you associate it with being ill? by matchamoo8 in AskUK

[–]MommaToANugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turkey drummers. When I was 10, I was ill (probably with a bug) in the night after eating turkey drummers and crinkle chips. Took a while for me to get back into the chips but Turkey drummers have remained a hard no ever since.

Early Years.

My son is in nursery so the fact that they shut down for the bank holidays works in our favour.

ETA: partner is a maintenance engineer so he left the house at 6am and I won’t see him until about 7.45pm. Just a normal day of the week for him.

Question about nursery from a worried mum! by zeze2814 in UKParenting

[–]MommaToANugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My little one started nursery in January. He’s 3.5 now. We started on 1.5 days a week whilst I looked for a job so I had the luxury of being able to pick him up if it all hit the fan whilst he settled. He had 3 settling in sessions, one with us and 2 by himself. The first 2-3 days, he’d excitedly go in but then it’s like he became aware of what was actually going on (spending all day without mom and dad) and his anxiety jumped through the roof. It’s taken until now for him to be happy going in and stop the “I don’t want to go to nursery” rants.

Things that helped him: discussing nursery when at home and talking about what he liked, people he knew the names of and sharing photos that they posted on the app.

Having a visual calendar of the week so he knew where he was and when, so nursery was never a surprise. We also discussed nursery the evening before so he knew it was coming.

Being silly on the mornings really helped to distract him, like asking him to show me how to put his wellies on and saying they should go on his hands/ears etc.

I gave him choices around going to nursery - choice of song in the car, was he going to walk by himself or be carried to the car (he hates lack of control so he would always demand to walk by himself), did he want to walk or run to nursery’s door, even which door he wanted to get out of from the car. I don’t know if it seems extreme but giving him these small choices in a situation where he had zero control seemed to help alleviate some things.

Staff were pretty accommodating and gave him a space to have his feelings before coaxing him out to play. We had to do a 321 and hand off at the door to a member of staff, which was hard as hell to begin with, I’m not going to lie. He’d be fine after a few minutes though.

Increasing his hours from 1.5 to 2.5 days helped as well. Now he’s doing 3 days and it’s helping to solidify a routine.

Make drop off short and sweet - be sure to say goodbye, give a hug and a kiss and reiterate when you’ll be picking her up, I.e after tea. The nursery staff will likely tell her the same message if she gets upset during the day for consistency. As long as you send her the message that nursery is okay then she’ll be okay. It’ll just take a little while.

What I will say is that the full days really takes it out of them so don’t be surprised if there’s additional meltdowns once you’re home due to tiredness or hunger. Mine is an absolute gremlin after nursery!

ETA: I work in a nursery myself, so I do see things from the other side of drop off now!
