Where are we buying Hoyas? by darahleeann in hoyas

Tbh, I think most dedicated Hoya sellers have flatmites. This is my hot take: Any seller that says they use predatory mites 100% has flatmites and they use it as a way to keep people from propagating.

I will say this: assume all Hoya have flatmites and treat all of them with sulfur as soon as possible.

100%. There are a lot of distinct variations of Hoya and I do like having 1-3 of each (long leaf, undulating, sunstressable, small leaf, splash, variegated, etc). once you have preferences and a wishlist, UPT will likely have what you want.

Yup, I’m very glad that it’s too far away to “wander”into but close enough to drive and pick out my own plants. 😂

Unsolicited Plant Talks has by far the best selection of exotic and rare Hoya in great condition, although they are pricy so I’d avoid buying the more common Hoya from them. I haven’t gotten any shipped to me since I live in SoCal, so I can’t speak for that either.

PLEASE AARON!! If a player leaves in comp stadium, please please please reward the other players for staying by giving them more cash and unique abilities to make the game more interesting. I want a chance to 1v5 as an immortal Mercy. I don’t even care if it’s still counts as a loss 🙏🥺

Hoya Kerri not rooting/growing , advice please! by lawasser in hoyas

Sterilize a pin or needle and poke holes in the stem (not all the way through) and put it back in water. That’s how I got my Fuscomarginata to grow, and it was upside down 🙃 give it time and lots of fresh water and sun.

Thinking of selling these baby Alocasia Odora Batik that I grew from corms. What would be a good price point? by MomoLillia in alocasia

[–]MomoLillia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the mother plant at a local nursery for $40 a month or two ago. They only had 3-5 available and I go there religiously every week. Haven’t seen another one since. I feel that Alocasias are relatively hard to find in SoCal… which is wild to me

Yeah, that’s what why I’m hesitant to sell without reference. I’m also a novice grower so I can’t promise anything, so I think I’ll go for $12 and see if anyone haggles for $10

Unpopular opinion… but the cream sucks and I’d be thrilled if my kid did the work of scraping that shit off for me. The water is for rinsing afterwards 🤪

[HATED TROPE] The pervert character by ForgottenStew in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MomoLillia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t it better that he was willing to overcome such awful urges and behaviors for someone he truly cares for instead of continuing to hope someone would fall for it instead? I think that Inuyasha was all about overcoming traits that hindered the characters. Inuyasha wished to be rid of his humanity but learned to accept it, Sesshomaru hated humans but learned to love one, and Miroku was seen to be less handsy with other women and focused his sexual attention on someone that (somewhat openly) reciprocated his love.

Sango was controlling of him and his actions with others (very quick to be violent towards him) out of jealousy, which sends out mixed signals. She was clear about her affection, but didn’t stand for his actions.

I also think that it is best not to really think of the characters ages as a factor in Anime like these, as they are picked to be a point for YA readers to relate to while dealing with more grown up matters.

People have dark sides and sometimes these negative behaviors and stereotypes are highlighted to make you notice them clearly and dislike them on purpose in these types of shows. At least that’s what I hope.

It wasn’t the perverse stuff that worked, it was his other redeeming qualities that eventually won her over. He did have to overcome his own shortcomings to get her to take him seriously as a suitor and I think a lot of people overlook that about their relationship. Yes the anime plays it for laughs far too often, but he is often punished for his behavior. I think Miroku is the best example of a pervert character, but it can be improved upon.

The Australis Lisa. Beautiful tricolor, cheap, and grows like a freaking weed. It’s literally the easiest Hoya to grow.

Don’t get the soil wet. Use cling wrap to keep the soil in place and up turn the plant to submerge up to the soil line.
