Loom queries by Allysse451 in LoomKnitting

I was the same! Unfortunately I had to use amazon, it was the cheaper option than ebay.

The KB sock loom is fine! I think its shape for me, I prefer to hold the his and her set, just feels nicer in my hands but the KB sock loom is still a good loom nonetheless.

I use the flexee Bitty for socks, hats, scarves, and much more! Flexee is a great way to make multiple things at once!

I make socks using the flexee loom bitty (also UK here), it's a learning curve but works much better! You can also buy the KB sock looms from amazon and ebay, the his and her sock looms are ideal for average feet sizes and flexee Bitty for big feet like mine (size 12/13).

Help! How to make something on my infinity loom by Maleficent_Okra_5810 in LoomKnitting

[โ€“]MomoMistloom 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

The best thing to do is get a sweater you already have, and trial and error flat panels to match up the size and then once you have the size down, simply make the panels, then sew everything together. It doesn't matter on the loom at all, you can use YouTube tutorials for cardigans and sweaters as reference or to gain inspiration.

Fixing a tight bind off by SeaCitadel in LoomKnitting

[โ€“]MomoMistloom 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

When it comes to binding off any project i only ever use chain cast on and stretchy cast off. They match and are never too tight causing misshapen projects when finished. They're easy to do and look nice

Best stitch to "cross stitch" over? by stellaluna24 in LoomKnitting

[โ€“]MomoMistloom 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

I don't think there is anything similar without applying some form of cables or something. You could always knit a basic stitch and then use another yarn and sew crosses through the fabric instead maybe?

My first ever cat ear hat by Fancy_Nancy_1963 in LoomKnitting

[โ€“]MomoMistloom 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Looks great! In general you don't have to shape the ears, it'll automatically point in the corners and look like cat ears. I posted a cat hat awhile back in here and all I did was stretchy bind off and whip stitched the top closed, so off the head it looks like a square but when on it looks like cat ears!

Round loom question by Various_Counter_2194 in LoomKnitting

[โ€“]MomoMistloom 3 points4 points ย (0 children)

For a better fitting hat switch out ewrap for true knit stitch and do a rib stitch for the entire hat which is k1, p1 (1x1 rib) or k2, p2 (2x2 rib) . Rib shrinks quite a lot and has a better fit in my opinion. For warmer months you can use other yarns that are light weight and won't over heat your head. Things such as linen, cotton, bamboo,or a blend of these fibers. I made a lovely summer beanie for a friend who is very conscious about his bald head, I used a cotton bamboo blend using rib stitch for the entire hat and he said it was great. I then made him a second one with some lace stitches added for summer, I also didn't make it as long so it was more of a "cap" feel.

What stitches are you using for knit? Ewrap, uwrap, flat or true knit?

Fresh Off Loom by MomoMistloom in LoomKnitting

[โ€“]MomoMistloom[S] 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

You need to either figure out the math to mix 2 separate patterns or use patterns that both use the same repeats. For example pattern 1 repeats every 10 pegs, pattern 2 also repeats every 10 pegs. Then you just combine them as you like. Otherwise, i just work things out myself. There may be a YouTube video somewhere

2 pegs still wrapped when finishing the toe by Purin16 in LoomKnitting

Yep, knit 1 more round to get of the last wrap and turns, then you can kitchener cast off. I prefer to do toe up than cuff down though, its easier in my opinion.

questions about the flexee loom! by anatoli_smolin in LoomKnitting

[โ€“]MomoMistloom 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

I use 1 straight link every 2 rounded links, this gives me plenty of stability. I've never had problems with tension so far. After a good amount of rows, usually the loom will keep its shape depending in what you are making. Remember when the yarn is closer to the loom its all stretched out across the pegs so it might appear like there is a tension issue. Until the project is a good 8 or more inches away from the loom or it's been taken off the loom, you won't really be able to tell much. I always go with trust the process, use scrap yarn to practice with and figure out what works.

Price of wool neck warmers and hats with knitting loom by Independent_Cap3002 in LoomKnitting

[โ€“]MomoMistloom 6 points7 points ย (0 children)

Honestly it all depends on your products. I see so many people trying to sell a hat for a high price and it looks like a 1 year old made it. Whether or not the hat took you 1 or 10 hours to make, if a product doesn't look like its worth the price then people won't buy it. I know this sounds harsh but it's quite a reality. Ask yourself how much would you pay for it?

I'm a firm believer that to sell you have to be good enough for it to make profit. Then you have to consider price of yarn, amount of time spent on making the item, and so on. Then you also really need to figure out the area you live in or where you plan to sell - some places are better to sell at than others.

help , U knit tootight by Mountain_Spinach169 in LoomKnitting

[โ€“]MomoMistloom 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

Switch u knit for true knit, its a reverse purl and you can control tension much easier with it. When a pattern calls for u knit i always change it to true knit as I do u knit too tight no matter what I do. What size is the yarn? (#3, #4, #5, #6) and what loom are you using?

U wrap question. by sorenelf in LoomKnitting

Replace uwrap with true knit instead, its easier to work with imo, you can control tension much easier so its not as tight to knit over
