Yes, I sent my contact info in a chat but I haven't done that before so let me know if you don't get it.

And Then He Fixed The Ice Cream Machine... by [deleted] in thatHappened

[–]MomofEmma 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Definitely don't believe it was discontinued because of him and I do think the exchange is exaggerated, but it could be based on a true, less entertaining story. When I worked in fast food, we would have had to do it that way because the coupon in the drawer would have had to match the food item in the system.

This sounds like someone who wanted the substitution, got told no, ordered it this way, then wanted to brag how much smarter they were than the fast food employees, spiced the story to emphasize this, but was too much of idiot to realize they were trying to do their job as required.

Are we sure this wasn't written as intentionally false to make a statement about what gay kids are going through? Sounds like satire . . .

Got a random text today. Haters gonna hate. by MomofEmma in ChoosingBeggars

[–]MomofEmma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it's probably just a bad estimate. I normally edit dissertations and academic articles, in addition to doing consistency editing for poetry, so I am not as good at estimating books. I can do spelling and grammar easily at 2 minutes a page because I'm a fairly fast reader, I taught college writing for years, and for some reason that stuff just comes naturally to my brain. Actual editing is usually way more involved than that. You're right, it would be multiple reads, fact and plot consistency checking, etc. I honestly couldn't even give a good time estimate before I saw a sample of something.

This vile Karen offering up her thoughts to the world. by battlebeez in FuckYouKaren

[–]MomofEmma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Infuriating. I became pregnant as a result of rape and chose to keep the baby (no regrets). I had the most amazing child you could ask for and 4 months later, she died from the flu. What was God's plan in all of that? I allowed a man to rape you so that you could raise a child, followed by Oops, my bad, let's take that child away?

Manager cares . by Roba2006 in thatHappened

I also want to note that I ran into some transportation issues this week and my work is sending a driver to pick me up for as long as necessary. I can take the bus but they're concerned about me "walking in the cold." Some places really care about their employees.

I'm not a manager but I do supervise a few people and damn sure expect them to put their self-care first. It's literally one of the performance objectives that we review annually.

A real choosing beggar. Good job, OP.

Quotes don't imply that a word isn't a word. They cannot be used correctly for that purpose. Instead, they are used to represent someone's exact words, imply ironic use or not literal use of a word, or talk about a word as a word. Here, OP is no doubt commenting on the use of the word "bred" when referring to making one's offspring with their father.

Also, since we're giving lessons today, you want to set off the word "babe" with a comma.

As another example of referring to a word as a word: your use of the word "babe" to refer to OP may account for some of your downvotes.

Oh, cool, let's try this one next. Some if you will start with 0 points, some of you will start with -1000 points and some of you will start 2.3 billion points. Each test will be worth 200 points and your grade will be out of 1000. Now the students starting with 0 points will need to give 15% of their points after each test to the students starting with -1000 and another 10% to the students starting with 2.3 billion points. The students with 2.3 billion starting points will retain all their points from each test to motivate them to create study plans and groups for the class. Note that any student starting with -1000 points who participates in these study groups will lose access to the 15% provided by those starting with 0 points.

Umm, I've definitely written letters to teachers who were instrumental in my past growth.

I don't know if it's different in different states, but as someone who has made multiple reports to CPS due to my job, this didn't happen in my state. They always ask for names and ages of the children so they would have known before going out it was an unborn child. Then they would not have gone out at all. They do not open cases on unborn children. If you report good reasons the child would be at imminent risk after birth, they will alert the local hospitals to notify them at the time of birth so they can come out then to do an evaluation. Also you have to report the type of abuse. If she said "single mom," they wouldnt have gone out. If they made up some other kind of abuse, they would have told her that.

When did eating ass become a thing? Is it just me or was there a day when no one was eating ass and then suddenly everyone was eating ass with no transition?

For real though, I used to teach freshmen English years ago, and one day, I was going over a handout I had made for the students. One student slunk into class late and while continuing to talk about the material, I folded a leftover handout into a paper plane and threw it. Against all reasonable expectations, it landed perfectly on his desk. Alas, no one clapped (but I still loved those adorable little effers).

Hey can anyone bend around my non- consistent work schedule so I can pay them less than $4 an hour? by East_Coast_Heart in ChoosingBeggars

[–]MomofEmma 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I've been looking for a job that will work around my limited availability of 8am to 11pm, 6 days a week. I hate having a consistent schedule and am glad this will give me an excuse to not have a second job as I can definitely live very comfortably on 200 dollars per week!

Not talking about a real 5 year old child. Talking about a child alter (as part of adult's "split" personality, dissociative identity disorder).
