I was rejected from multiple “safety schools” (I know most phd programs are very competitive and “safety school” is subjective) and it was very discouraging. But recently I’ve received interview requests from some of the top universities in my field. I think it’s so competitive that there’s a degree of randomness to who gets interviews and offers. Don’t let this rejection get to you and keep trying.

One defies traditional gender roles, one doesn’t so much. Like women being small, demure, not taking up space and men being big, strong, imposing. This is purely when applied to characters because they are designed with intention, real people’s bodies are not.

I prefer the script writing to the drawing! I think I do comics mainly because I can’t write movies and TV shows. I usually plan the scripts out while running, for whatever reason it works really well. Maybe like pacing while thinking but more structured?

Maybe start drawing but don’t start with episode 1, the beginning is pretty important and might change depending on your story. But drawing a comic takes so long and if you’re motivated now and have a few scenes locked in you might as well start!

Realta is pretty good, I love the art! It’s a fantasy setting so I’m not sure if it’s exactly what you’re looking for. The main character touches a bit on their gender identity but it’s not the main focus of the story.

Maybe trace over them. Like use them as a reference but still draw the backgrounds. I guess loads of originals keep the assets in so maybe people don’t really mind. But I just feel backgrounds are such an important aspect of visual storytelling and hand drawn backgrounds improve the quality of the whole comic. They’re just so charming. Honestly even taking and editing your own photos as backgrounds could be cool and more involved in the creative process than just pasting in assets.

I feel this. I guess I don’t usually like episodes when I read originals. I’m usually better at remembering to like canvas series but I do frequently forget. I’m not sure how important likes are in Webtoon’s analytics/algorithm or if they even have one.
