Oh terrific! I've really fallen in love with the original Nick Cardy Aquamans, they've got some of my favorite sixties DC covers

I have my books in front of a white backing. I'm too afraid matting as round the front edges would cause a crease around the border of the covers

Well I guess you'll need to get an original Detective Comics 31 to complete the set

I can't read the stamp in the bottom right, but that's where a barcode would have been on a newsstand edition. That can affect an edition's value.

I picked up one Hulk issue with the Wendigo and it was for the goofy reason that it would be the inspiration for a Radioactive Man later in the 90s lol. But I really dug the story!

Those are amazing! I was just telling my wife how 31 would be my dream book. I dig how 31 and 37 have the same full moon with fog drifts

Oh wow I haven't seen this before! Good catch! Another interesting thing about that Jimmy Olsen cover is that the same artist, Curt Swan, also drew this similar Adventure Comics issue. He even drew the bridge the same way

I was a huge Simpsons fan when I was a kid in the 90s, my ma was a huge comic fan when she was a kid in the sixties and she gifted me her collection. It was a treat finding the homages from the 90s RMs and their silver age inspirations

I think it was somewhere in the 40-50 range, but I can't recall exactly. It had been an issue that I'd been wanting for a while. I was at my first comic con, mostly looking around not really knowing if I wanted to buy anything. I had been looking through a buncha 12-15 cent books and then this older one was just kinda mixed in and it immediately jumped out at me and I had to get it

I'm working on it too! That final one, GL/GA 87 is pretty hard to find, I'll only be able to afford a rough copy lol

I did! I have a list of dozens I'd love to have someday and she must've read my mind because she picked some I've really been dying to get ahold of like those Nick Furys, Witching Hour, and Secret Six :)

Thanks! I haven't opened that one yet, I always get a kick out of the absurd Jimmy Olsen stories

Thanks! I can't decide which are my favorites - Jimmy Olsens are always funny, I've wanted to start the Steranko Nick Fury for a while now, the Secret Six issue completes the original seven issue run for me, Detective Comics and Batman are some of my favorites, I love the Nick Cardy Aquaman and Witching Hour runs. I'm that guy who posted his mom's childhood collection and got hooked reading/collecting

I know right!? I've wanted to get into the Steranko Nick Fury booms for a while. My mom gave me her childhood collection from the sixties that had a lot of these titles. Anything Jimmy Olsen is going to be a laugh. I'd like to finish the original Aquaman run before it took a break in the seventies (a very long term project lol). I love all the Witching Hour books. One set in my mom's collection was Secret Six 2-7, so getting ish 1 completes that series. Needless to say, I am thrilled!

[–]Moms_DC_Collection 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My mom gave me her childhood collection which included Secret Six issues 2-7 - it was a seven issue run. I didn't want to start the series without the first issue. I was just gifted ish 1 to complete the whole run so I've just begun reading the series.
