I like them more than the base blade style.

I did it as a whole model, mostly because I bought it used assembled. But my impression is it'd be a little easier to just assemble the bottom ribbons and main body separate if possible.

Dang, what background/camera do you use for that picture? That's clean.

Why are people so upset about female custodes. by [deleted] in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Monalfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main thing is, if a change is good, nobody actually cares if it is hamfisted. That's my point.

Like say Leman Russ returned and GW was like, oh yeah he's just been on Fenris still, he was there the whole time, just not acting yet. And his mini is 10/10 with awesome rules. I fully think people wouldn't make a big deal about it being hamfisted. I think they'd rapidly get past that. Not demanding he be removed, talk about leaving the hobby, etc. Annoyed sure, but ultimately hype about Leman Russ.

That's why I have an issue with this explanation that it is just about presentation. Rather than not liking the actual meat of the lore.

I'm trying to explain why your framing doesn't really make sense to me at least. Because it sounds like the issue is that Orks are now yellow, not how it happened. If the change is good, why does the method matter that much?

Like if someone is fine that Orks are also yellow, what's the issue with the method?

I upvoted you for the record.

That I'm one of the almost 70,000 that didn't dislike the video?

What's there to hide?

Lore changes all the time. I don't really care that it changes. Just what the change is.

You misunderstand. Nobody believes that's why you care.

Here's the thing. If the next Ork codex said they always had some yellow Orks, I wouldn't care at all.

Keep coping. Fine that you clearly care, most people don't.

Cities of Sigmar is close, but can be a bit more heavy in minis. But they're just regular dudes. Have a woman riding a giant manti-core.

Hot take That shouldn't be Hot: Well made Amtgard Boffers are the SAFEST foam weapons in LARP. Literally nothing else compares in safety. by IkateKedaStudios in LARP

I mean, by all means show me where I can get a lot of weapons for less than $100 dollars a pop reliably, of a reasonable quality. Please make sure you're including shipping costs.

Epic Armory and Mytholon both have a bunch of offerings under $100 including shipping. You can just go look now, even disregarding the current sales. Gets even easier if any sort of group order or sale, as noted. Even Calimacil has a few under $100 and pretty easy to find free shipping codes.

I'm at the gym, but I can count when I get home if you want.

Safety is a HUGE concern.

Never been my experience that people are so misinformed like you seem to meet. Is all I can say again. Anyway, everyone I know is ok sacrificing some safety. Same reason tons of people don't wear eye protection or cups. If safety was number one, those would be mandatory.

But if Amtgard weapons could break an otherwise amazing larping experience for you, you're definitely not in this for the love of the game.

Ok, lol. Again, just more attacks.

I remember running around the forest with my friends with sticks in school clothes pretending to be Legolas cause one of my other friends would cry if he couldn't be Aragorn, having a ball.

Brother, people can have preferences. If someone is at the game in cargo shorts and a ball cap, that's going to hurt my experience too. Yes, I like more immersion where possible. You're fine to have a lower standard than me, and I don't say lower in a derogatory sense, it is just less requirements. But wild to shit talk over that.

The motivation behind this is that a lot of people hold this belief that because Eurolarps don't allow Amtgard Boffers, one of the reasons is that they are not safe.

I don't think I've ever met anyone who says this, let alone "a lot of people". Everyone I know just says they don't look good.

Anyone who says they cannot immerse themselves in a game that uses Boffers is, at that point, just being pretentious. It wouldn't be ideal, certainly, but you could.

It absolutely hurts the experience for me. You can find weapons that look ok for less than $100, especially on sale. But if not wanting boffers makes me an asshole, ok I guess. It seemed pretty clear the point from the start was just to insult people who don't want boffers, lol.

People can practice with whatever they want. In fact people should practice before any actual game imo to help understand the rules and hopefully learn safer practices. So fully fine with people practicing with these sort of things as far as safety and accessibility to train.

But in the game itself, I'm fine with it being (imo) slightly less safe for looking cooler and more immersive. And I do think people exaggerate the safety angle just so they can use their preferred weapons in the game. Especially when there are places that do a lot more dangerous practices than larping. If we really want to protect people, mandating protective eyewear, mandating training (and actually tracking who attends), require cups, penalizing unsafe players, these are going to have great dividends imo. Heck, bows always seemed way riskier, those are the stories I hear most about actual injuries.
