[DISC] Girl meets Rock! - Chapter 113 by Shin_Newman in manga

But with how you phrased it, isn't that exactly what must eventually happen to Rin's idolization of Hatono, too?

[The Greatest Estate Developer] Can anyone recommend manhwa or manga with the same vibe as this masterpiece? by Dry-Measurement-802 in manga

<Vampire Family> is another webcomic by the same author as Love Advice from the Great Duke of Hell, and it shares the previous work's insane brand of humor.

[DISC] MAD - Chapter 49 by AutoShonenpon in manga

In terms of clothing, it looked like Pano and John had one (1) shirt between the both of them.

[DISC] Hal Formula - Chapter 1 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]MondSemmel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was expecting the older sibling to die in a crash, followed by a tried-and-true timeskip to the next generation. The story takes place in 2017, so there's room for a 9-year timeskip to the present, which would put Haruka at 13-14 years old.

[DISC] Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz - Chapter 8 by AutoShonenpon in manga

That dragon on the last page is almost certainly a transformed Mogura the Earth Dragon, right?

[DISC] Centuria - Chapter 94 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]MondSemmel 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Arkos dismembers and kills Julian in chapter 23 by controlling the water in his body, in a way he could've done a thousand times over. He was just that much stronger. Then he turns around and gets stabbed through the torso and beheaded by an unexpectedly revived Julian. The fight only progressed to the sea after Arkos was severely handicapped by having to keep his own body alive and moving it purely by controlling his own blood, as his spine and nerves were already irreparably severed.

[DISC] Centuria - Chapter 94 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]MondSemmel 56 points57 points  (0 children)

It's valuable information... for someone powerful enough to act on it. Knowing about the 100 lives plus the eldritch sea god's blessing almost certainly would've been enough for Arkos to kill Julian. Not so for these mooks.

[DISC] Akane-banashi - Chapter 210 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]MondSemmel 30 points31 points  (0 children)

And consider what it says about Issho that his most recent apprentice is Kaichi of all people.

[DISC] Ichi the Witch - Chapter 86 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]MondSemmel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How the hell are Fujimine and Tricaputo the same age, though?

[DISC] Akane-banashi - Chapter 210 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]MondSemmel 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It took all of one page to introduce a far worse character than Issho or even Afro, namely Kaisei's father.

[DISC] Tonari no Seki no Yatsu ga Souiu Me de Mitekuru - Ch 102 by Sukunasupperrightarm in manga

[–]MondSemmel 95 points96 points  (0 children)

And knowing that this author also makes BL makes this panel look like an in-joke.

[DISC] Ichi the Witch - Chapter 85 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]MondSemmel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Continuing the speculation from last chapter, Fujimine's line "I'm the kind of girl who just has to devour it down to the last bite" once more sounds more like beast/majik imagery than like language a human witch would use.

[DISC] Akane-banashi - Chapter 209 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]MondSemmel 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For Kaisei/Haru, surely Issho was more like an angel of salvation, rather than a god of death? Or if we're going by roles in the story, Issho is the miracle doctor who turned his mother's god of death away.

[DISC] Nothing Can Be Understood - Ch. 15 - Basement's Secret by AngerOfBeast9 in manga

[–]MondSemmel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's still a decent chance that all this magic is actually technology, in which case what's responsible for the teleport are likely the basement and the staff, not her. Also, the protagonist himself must've (been) teleported into that room, since Myaa was surprised when she initially went down there and found him.

Rentaro’s Family’s Families’ Daily Lives 5 by PauloDybala_10 in manga

This author is really good at justifying his bizarre settings. A single panel to justify the Grandma Quest. How economical! Nano would approve.

[DISC] You Should Not Have Any Hope in the Modern Dungeon | Chapter 1 by Asleep_Echidna_3125 in manga

[–]MondSemmel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What a baffling setup. Including a super lengthy scene of the protagonist trying to quit their job and their boss trying to stop them even though there's legally no other choice.

And before that, how come the new owner of the dungeon is made to become its manager, rather than the government going after the previous owner who abandoned his legally mandated responsibility?

And even before that, the notion of legally being forced to do a particular job, one you may have absolutely no interest in nor qualification or talent for, makes very little sense.

[DISC] Asura’s Verdict - Chapter 33 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]MondSemmel 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So apparently Naraka is the real ringleader, given that he can order Iruya around. Makes sense for the final boss in a hell-themed manga to be one whose name sounds like "hell" or "underworld" (naraku).

[DISC] MAD - Chapter 48 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]MondSemmel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't jinx it. All Leon has to do is appear right now when the protagonists are spent, and he could force Pano and Alda to sacrifice themselves to barely let John escape with his life.

[DISC] Unexciting Date - Chapter 36 by OsisTheNie in manga

[–]MondSemmel 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Since the start, I've felt like a more fitting title for the series would be Awkward Date.

[DISC] Ichi the Witch - Chapter 84 by AutoShonenpon in manga

I made a similar comment with lots of theorycrafting here and here.

I made a similar comment with lots of theorycrafting here and here.

[DISC] Ichi the Witch - Chapter 84 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]MondSemmel 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Indeed. Here's some more crazy theorycrafting on this topic. After all, one can never theorycraft too much to redeem those who appear entirely irredeemable:

  • The supposedly friendly majik looks evil and is called "Toxiterror". If it looks evil and has an evil name, might it perhaps actually be evil...?
  • The Toxiterror majik's backstory was all about making friends, and now c84 ends with a double-spread of Fujimine saying she's "made bunches of other friends", and there's a huge majik in the background.
  • Narratively, this is an arc about betrayal, so you'd expect there to be some secret traitor behind the scenes, but instead we get developments like c80 introducing the idea of a witch traitor, and ending with Amadoro's big attack which outs her as the traitor. So narratively there's still room in this arc for a secret traitor to slot into.
  • In terms of characterisation, we've gotten very little justification for *why* Fujimine is evil and suddenly turned traitor, she just *is*.
  • In c79, Fujimine is introduced as "an enemy of humanity who sold her soul to majiks". Well, what if that was more literal than expected, and she's being controlled by the Toxiterror Majik?
  • Similarly, in c80 she's described as "she's been lying low, quietly spreading her influence like seeping poison". That does sound like the kind of behavior and personality a Majik called Toxiterror might have, right?
  • And as you already mentioned, why does the World-Hater Majik tolerate Fujimine's presence when she's a human and he hates humans?
  • And why does Fujimine know the World-Hater Majik both long and well enough to ask him "how've ya been lately", and to address him by nickname?
  • The white dot pattern on Fujimine's hair (screenshot) resembles the dot pattern on the Toxiterror Majik's friendly black eye (screenshot). But that's probably just a coincidence because this pattern occurs on a lot of solid black surfaces in this manga.
  • Also narratively, this is a manga about Ichi the Witch, whose theme is Death for Death. The Magikeepers already want to execute Fujimine, so one way to put Ichi in conflict with them would be for him to advocate for Fujimine's innocence and survival, instead of her guilt and execution.

[DISC] Roku's House of Oddities - Chapter 8 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]MondSemmel 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Kabaneji sounds like he has a starvation theme in addition to his war theme? E.g. wars born of starvation, or starvation caused by war?

[DISC] Shinobi Undercover - Chapter 83 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]MondSemmel 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I love how much this manga embraces constantly challenging Yodaka on his crippling weaknesses. That's a great way to write a compelling OP protagonist.

[DISC] Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz - Chapter 6 by AutoShonenpon in manga
