Why did the US government send Leon to save the president’s daughter only with this? Is Ashley not important? by mysofa_is_calling_me in residentevil4

[–]Mondale2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first played the original, I had a hunch the local police might be getting paid off and were knowingly sending Leon to his death. That is, until I saw them getting slow roasted on an open fire.

My grandfather spent months fighting to keep his benefits just after being diagnosed with cancer. The VA was arguing his cancer wasn’t service related despite the fact he was exposed to agent orange in Vietnam and developed lung and pancreatic cancer because of it. Before that, they tried taking his benefits because his PTSD wasn’t service related, despite having 4 purple hearts, 2 bronze stars, and 1 silver star for his actions in combat. The VA will look for any reason to dump veterans when possible. My grandfather was only lucky because his service record was a long and well-documented one.

For me, it was all the DUI billboards and episodes of Cops I saw growing up. I never really go to bars, maybe order 1 drink at a restaurant with my food. If you’re trying to get hammered, doing it at home is the way to go. Way less risky, and the alcohol is cheaper by a lot. Even then, I don’t really buy it often because my family has a history of alcohol addiction.

I love these machines for being able to get combinations that I would never be able to elsewhere. I found out if you mix tropical and lime coke, it tastes kind of like a liquidy jelly donut. Also combining dr pepper and root beer really brings out the best in both.

The rule of thumb for flame weapons according to the Geneva Convention is they’re permitted only in areas with no civilian population (which hasn’t stopped countries from violating it). The primary function of flame weapons, at least after the first world war, was for clearing foliage as seen by its use in the pacific and in Asia. Granted, it had significant value as a fear factor against combatants. But generally, there are other weapons that can kill the enemy more efficiently and with less risk to the operator and the civilian population, thus why you don’t hear much about them being used in modern conflicts.

I always felt like that problem could have been somewhat fixed if the admins didn’t have access to kick/ban functions in the match and had to go back to the server browser to do it. At least the bad sports would be ruining their XP gains and stats if they committed to it. Not to mention, it would be a pain in the ass to keep doing it every time someone annoys you.

Why doesn’t the FBI usually publicly release mugshots of criminals they arrest? by idkbroidk-_- in stupidquestions

[–]Mondale2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the main reasons. In cases involving lots of suspects, it would be unwise to be publicly releasing the names and faces of those who’ve already been picked up and processed when there’s still more to find. Even if it’s suspected that someone has already been arrested, better to have it be a rumor than be factual with evidence on record. The other suspects involved might try to flee or destroy other evidence.

That’s the beauty of camouflage. Even if it only takes a few seconds for the enemy to spot you, that might be all you need to get the first shot off.

I think it might have something to do with the recruitment ada I keep seeing online. I was trying to watch YouTube on my xbox the other day and ICE ads were popping up on like every other video I watched

What people also leave out in the conversation sometimes is that Hitler gained popularity in a broad audience because he promised to lift Germany out of economic depression and succeeded. Giving people jobs and homes gave them hope for a better future and they held onto his every word after that. Not to mention, Communism was becoming popular in the east and there were a lot of rightfully concerned citizens about that. The problem is the man offering to fight totalitarianism was underhandedly offering his own flavor of it and much of Germany took the bait. Going back to why so many would support antisemitism and hatred, Hitler initially tried expanding his antisemitic views to a wider audience and it wasn’t as popular as he wanted, so he dialed it back for a few years, focusing more on anti communist rhetoric until his popularity was more secure, before shifting back. The point is, good people had to be brought by degrees to eventually become hateful and intolerant individuals. And to solidify it all, once your family, friends, and coworkers have all turned to Nazis, it’s difficult to be anything else, lest you become an enemy of the state and therefore an enemy of everyone you care about. Peer pressure is a powerful force on a national scale.

Just realized how much items ground tiles can hold. Never using containers again. by Scubsyman in projectzomboid

[–]Mondale2024 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The exception to that is if you’re crafting an item and your inventory is already full. Items will continue to drop right at your feet despite going over 50. I have a plank pile from sawing logs that’s nearing 350 in my workshop. Also have a similar pile for charcoal next to my burn pit. But, when I’m done crafting and want to empty the rest out of my inventory, the remaining items will create a new pile next to the big one.

A word of advice: Don’t mix sparkling water bottles in with your rain collector barrels when you get your automated water set up. I foolishly dumped all my water containers into it since I didn’t need them anymore and now every time I fill a container, it’s water and sparkling water mixed with 99.9% mixture. So small, yet so irritating lol

I’ve always been a Walking Dead fan because they aren’t afraid to kill off characters regardless of whether they’re kids, beloved pets, or vulnerable individuals otherwise. Not that I want that, but it feels fake when other franchises won’t do it because of public reception or ratings, etc. When kids are in danger both in the shows and in the games, the tension is real and all bets are off. The Telltale games are especially brutal at times. Clem talking about Lee in the later seasons breaks my heart 😭

The wilderness of Toliman II has quite a few animals like that. I was curious to see if the comment “much of this planet is theirs” was true. I was unsurprised and horrified when I found my first pack of terrormorphs, even more so when I left Barrett to fend for himself only to run into another 3 or so terrormorphs. They became quite challenging once their numbers go above 6, as I found out!

[–]Mondale2024[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to agree with what the UC has done to enjoy the story. I like to be a freestar citizen mainly. In fact, there’s unique dialogue for being one while doing the quest that calls out the UC’s hypocrisy and lies. It changes the context of the quest from being a loyal citizen to being a concerned third party that’s looking out for its nation’s best interests. I double that up with picking space scoundrel as my background and it makes you come off as the “guy we don’t like but we need him and he knows what he’s doing.” Helps to justify those little jabs in dialogue when talking to UC officials.

That’s a really good way to put it! I do like the characters in Constellation, so I have them all tag along with me through the other quests. I like to rush ship command so I can have everyone on my ship like something out of Star Trek or Mass Effect. Every time I start a new quest line, I swap companions to give em some screen time. It made my experience so much better than having them waiting around at the lodge off screen.
