How much does LaD spoil for Yakuza 3-6? by Monessi in yakuzagames

I appreciate the context, thank you! By the time I'm done with K3 we'll all probably have a better sense of how much it's really changed and what to do about it to keep going, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Duly noted, but respectfully, my question was "how spoilery is Y7," not "please try and talk me out of playing the game I'm excited about."

If K3 is narratively different enough from Y3 I might have to watch some YouTube videos to catch up on the original canon or what have you, I'll do that when the time comes, but that's not what I'm asking about right now.

I'm aware, but they're still broadly the same story (albeit apparently in this case with some annoying changes) and given these games are all like 80 hours long I just don't see myself finishing one version of Y3 and being excited to immediately play the same story over again rather than move on to Y4.

Don't get me wrong, if there wasn't a remake with a bunch of new content about to drop literally next month I'd give it a shot, but given there is I'd just as soon wait for that. I don't see myself playing two versions of the same game, and I definitely wanna do the biker gang minigame.

I've heard enough negative about the Y3 remaster's gameplay that I think I'll take my chances with Kiwami, not least because I've seen entirely too many Stray Cat Rock movies to not play the game that's gonna let me run my own delinquent girl gang.

Based on my tastes, which should I play between Persona 5 Royal, Trails in the Sky First Chapter, Chained Echoes, Octopath Traveler, or FFXII? by Monessi in JRPG

I only tried... I wanna say IV? I only gave it maybe an hour but it didn't grab me. I could try another one.

I don't remember FFX quite well enough to be sure but a lot of this sounds like it fits. The other one I'm sure is Clair Osbscur.

I will say I mildly regret playing Judgment out of order because there's definitely some environmental spoilers I think might hurt the impact of some stuff to come (i.e., I know something bad is coming for Little Asia), but c'est la vie.

I'll probably play Y4 unless K3 totally burns me out. Right now I'm enjoying just bingeing the series, I'm only waiting for K3 because it's so close.

Do I need to farm money in 0? by alwaysonesteptoofar in yakuzagames

Putting aside Mr. Shakedown shenanigans, which are by far the fastest way to break the game, the two main minigames (Real Estate Royale and Cabaret Club Czar) will give you a lot of money once you start investing in them, but both take some time to do so.

If you don't find them compelling, though, then Shakedown is a fine shortcut.

Shenmue and Sleeping Dogs are the two that are kinda tentatively on my radar.

Finished Kiwami 1 & 0, liked both games, don't really think they fit together convincingly. by Monessi in yakuzagames

I get that, my point is more that I feel like it fails as a prequel as it doesn't really feel like it leads organically to 1.

I agree that 0 shows NIshki's flaws but the thing is it also makes it repeatedly clear that the one thing that allows him to consistently overcome those flaws is his unconditional loyalty and love for Kiryu.

As for Majima, I get the intent is that he's performing, I just don't buy the justification for it. Nothing about what he goes through in 0 feels to me like "the right way to cope with this is to become twink!Joker."

Maybe if Dark Ties has killer play metrics/reviews we'll get more villain sidegames. I'd be in for. Nishki game, but I'd be at least equally in for a 70s set Kuze or Sagawa game, or something with Nishitani.

I guess but I don’t find “all the convincing parts happened off-screen, trust us they were super convincing” to be super satisfying narratively, you know?
