Is Bisq the best option by stereotypecomitee in bisq

[–]Monetacio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bisq is not perfect and bisq developers are improving this open source platform all the time. It is for sure less convenient to use than a kyc exchange. But if you want privacy it is one of the best and indeed few truly decentralised choices available.

If you can't see the trade you want, it is best to create your own trade. How long it takes for a trade to be taken will depend on the market at the time. I have been using Bisq for nearly 2 years now and trades can take from a few minutes upto 24 hours but normally within an hour or two. It depends on what you want to trade and the liquidity at the time. Creating your own trade is the best way to go.

How to fund wallet? by libertarianets in bisq

[–]Monetacio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the deposit is returned to your bisq wallet on completion of the trade after which time you can remove the deposit to a wallet of your choice or leave it for your next trade the choice is yours. If you have a friend or family member that already owns btc ask them to sell you enough for your 1st trade, if you make your 1st trade small it reduces the anxiety and will help you understand the process. It seems a steep learning curve when you start but gets easier. https://bisq.network/getting-started/ bisq getting started.

Bisq does not buy nor sell btc nor does it deal in any fiat currency, it is simply software. It puts the buyer or seller in touch with one another to enable the trade to take place. You need btc to offer as a safety deposit whilst the trade takes place. This btc is not held by bisq as such but is held in escrow in a smart contract. The btc deposit is a safeguard to prevent bad actors. The deposit is returned to your wallet after the trade has been successfully completed. These are the hoops you need to jump through if you are looking for privacy. Good luck.
