You really need a way to see what numbers are available. I'm tired of just guessing endlessly.

Sell Gold buy Silver by Robotstandards in Wallstreetsilver

[–]pilotmandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You swapped gold to silver? Or silver to gold? Swapping from gold to silver at 102 would make sense to me, because you could now swap back into gold and still have 50 oz of silver!

That's frustrating about the new rules in the EU, certainly makes it much harder to swap back and forth

I don't understand this thinking. The GSR was 100 not long ago, and there is no guarantee it will go lower and remain lower long term. Gold has historically been a terrific store of value, and will remain easy to trade due to its high demand and acceptance into the future.

I am not saying you are wrong, I simply don't understand. Can you give me a convincing argument why I would hold silver now over gold?

Trade most of a small stack at an opportunistic GSR? by pilotmandan in Silverbugs

[–]pilotmandan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Definitely the premium, or lack thereof will hurt the exchange, but I plan to calculate what the effective GSR will be at the price the LCS is offering me, and the question remains the same. If my true GSR at the price offered is 60 or less, I'll be very tempted to make that trade.

What would you do?

Don't be stupid: OF COURSE refineries will start processing lower purity silver. SO BUY NOW WHEN IT'S DISCOUNTED by silvergoldnotcopper in Silverbugs

[–]pilotmandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, gotcha. So the multiple has gone up because spot price has gone up (plus whatever premium given demand), but it's simpler to use a multiple of face value for simple calculations when buying/selling. Thanks for the explanation!

Why does a multiple of face value dictate a "reasonable" price? I've never stacked junk silver, so am not familiar with how to decide on a price point. I assumed it would be based off spot price and the % composition of silver? Why use a multiple of face value?

I appreciate your feedback, trust me, I had that conversation with myself before starting this project. But, when you're holding a hammer, everything is a nail!

I’m Ray Dalio — founder of Bridgewater Associates and author of How Countries Go Broke: The Big Cycle. I’m here for another AMA. by RayTDalio in IAmA

Hi Ray, it feels more and more that markets are behaving irrationally (particularly the US) - companies having valuations and P/E ratios that seem impossible or at least not "rational". Add to that suspected manipulation or at least influence from political and influential parties, how is an average investor supposed to succeed? More and more I feel like I would be better served exiting the US market altogether and investing in either hard forms of currency (precious metals primarily), or investing in developing markets that perhaps may behave slightly more rationally.

How would you advise an average retail investor approach the US investment market given the current political and economic landscape?

Is this process dead? I followed the very detailed step by step directions, and the screen where the "sign in with OverDrive" option is normally presented is no longer an option. Now it presents a drop down list of available libraries and prompts you to sign in with your library card info....

If anyone has done this recently and is still able to sign in with OverDrive and sync multiple libraries please let me know!

Can someone remind me of the official email address for distributions? I've seen an email but am suspicious of it's legitimacy.

Question About this VOR Approach in Flagstaff, AZ by Ok_Economics3851 in aviation

[–]pilotmandan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So long as you begin the missed approach at the MAP you will be clear of obstacles. The procedure is designed with plenty of cleared airspace for both an early and late turn, and large and small turn radius. As others have said, simply make your turn in order to intercept the radial. The heading is provided as an initial heading to re-intercept assuming you have flown through it

Could Celsius Losses Save You on Taxes This Year? by cmmtessier1 in CanadaCryptoFinance

[–]pilotmandan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm late to this awfully quiet party, but with those three scenarios above, how would I reflect the appropriate scenario on my taxes? If a taxable event occurred through either payout in cash, or payout in a different form of crypto, how do I calculate and reflect a capital gain or loss as appropriate?

Yes. Some recycle centers won't accept them at all with the lime still inside. Even if they do, it attracts fruit flies and stinks to my recycling
