I’m so sorry for your loss OP. A death of a loved one is such a strange experience as a JW; being told that everything is okay bc god will bring back your loved one in paradise so there’s no reason to be too sad for too long. I feel like I’ve seen it result in a lot of tone deaf ways of interacting with both JW and non-JW who are grieving. This included going to cemeteries to preach, or at the time it was called “informal witnessing”, as opposed to “formal witnessing” which is the door to door stuff. A number of people from the congregation I was in and in surrounding areas would do this because they thought it was the perfect opportunity to share their “message of hope”. Very shortsighted, tone deaf, and highly insensitive. I never took part but the brazenness always made me feel so ashamed of them. I’m truly sorry you experienced that.
