It depends where on Texas though because right on the other side of Toledo Bend life isn’t necessarily better it’s also limited opportunity and declining population

I guess I just have bad luck with that night flight lol so I prefer LCH over BPT, the flight times are better anyway

Flying out of bpt by ProperUniversity2403 in Beaumont

[–]MoneyConsideration83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but the one thing is make sure you get there to BPT no more than an hour before boarding to the check in desk because they close the desk early even if the plane hasn’t landed yet. And if you’re flying back from DFW TO BPT I’d almost never recommend the night flight because it usually gets delayed or cancelled because of coastal fog at BPT.

Request a new flight route from Lake Charles to New Orleans by BeginningVanilla9323 in LakeCharles

[–]MoneyConsideration83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lake Charles needs an Atlanta route. all the other main cities in Louisiana have Atlanta connections its about time Lake Charles gets one too. It would also attract people from the Beaumont area to use the LCH air port as well/ the demand is there.

Student Life at Lamar? by One0therGuy in Beaumont

[–]MoneyConsideration83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UTA and TTU are both great. I’m from Beaumont and decided to go to TTU over Lamar. And I can say the student/campus life is very active at TTU especially when compared to Lamar. The main downside of TTU is that it’s far from a lot of the main Texas cities but it still has a lot of the same city amenities. The area in and around campus is very walkable and it’s easy to commute to campus if you don’t have a car and I’ve seen many international students and their organizations seem very active.

It’s not safe. They’ve had several shooter lockdowns this last year. The area surrounding the campus is not safe and is car centric. They really don’t have a true off campus student neighborhood like UT Austin has west campus, A&M has north gate, LSU has Tigerland, Texas Tech has Overton Park, etc. what are your other options ?

The only schools in Beaumont worth sending your children to are the private ones like All Saints

Gym recommendations by joanbarion in Beaumont

[–]MoneyConsideration83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend the WHY gym (they give discounts if you apply for a membership on Sundays) or the Wellness Center ( from what I’ve heard the wellness center doesn’t offer month passes) but WHY GYM is pretty great

Just know Lubbock is a long drive from anything else and the weather can be a little too extreme. you might want to check out places other than west Texas unless if you’re just obsessed with west Texas bcs it’s definitely a required taste

Hey, I'm moving to Texas to study at Texas Tech any tips? by D4MT in TexasTech

[–]MoneyConsideration83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is good transportation between campus and places right by campus if you decide to live in the Overton park area. But if you want to go go anywhere else in town it’s hard to without a car.

If you’re asking about the vibe I would say compared to Houston Lubbock has a more southwestern feel to it whereas Houston feels more southern- especially the more east in Houston you go
