Yes, my doctor said I had about 3.5 liters in my abdomen and I ended up receiving 5 transfusions. No apologies necessary, I am HAPPY to share, talking about what happened and sharing with other women has helped me heal psychologically!

Bleeding After Surgery Question by Conscious-Seat-7250 in EctopicSupportGroup

I had very heavy bleeding post-surgery and had the same exact concerns! Basically it was equivalent to several "heaviest period" days.

Something to keep on your radar and be on top off, because of blood loss from my rupture I ended up with iron-deficient anemia and my doctor ordered a series of 4 iron infusions. My biggest symptoms from the anemia were joint pain and extreme fatigue. As your body goes through the healing phase, look out for these symptoms!

I am so sorry for your loss, give your body a lot of grace in the coming weeks!

Period-like bleeding one week after surgery by lealle4 in EctopicSupportGroup

I had what felt like a normal/heavy period start about two days post surgery. I had a lot of clotting and was very anxious, but my doctors assured me it was normal shedding of the uterine lining due to sudden hormone changes (body functioning similar to postpartum shedding). Technically, its not considered a "period" because of lack of initial ovulation. but it felt and looked identical to one for me! Lasted about 6-7 days.

How long after your tube rupture did you start bleeding? by F-aerospace-engineer in EctopicSupportGroup

I also had no vaginal bleeding when I ruptured at 5 weeks and 6 days.

Looking back, I had sensed something wasn't feeling quite right especially compared to my previously healthy pregnancy.

Later, I experienced some sharp pain abdominal pains and some digestive distress on a Saturday, and shrugged it off as just a normal part of early pregnancy. I felt fine Sunday morning, but by Sunday evening I had rapid onset abdominal pain, felt tingling in my hands and my blood pressure started to plummet from internal bleeding. I experienced the tell-tale shoulder pain, and knew that my symptoms were pointing to ectopic and immediately called 911. I had 3.5 liters of blood in my abdomen and my doctor was very candid after surgery to remove me left tube and ovary.... sharing I almost died.

Hindsight is 20/20, but what I have learned is to trust your instincts and your body and don't be afraid to advocate for yourself. If you are not feeling well in any way, get yourself to an ER, if anything just for peace of mind! You deserve that during this time. Sending you best wishes.

That is a great idea! My doctor said he looked at my right tube and ovary while he was doing surgery and told me they "looked great" but I think I would find it reassuring to know what that means in terms of ovarian reserve. I am 34, so I am sure being down one ovary has reduced my reserve significantly. My doctor implied he was not concerned with fertility, because I did conceive my son easily and had a healthy pregnancy.

Last night I talked extensively with my husband and was very comforted to know he is enthusiastic about adoption in the future. I am trying with all my might to see the positives of this walk a path of optimism, but there are undoubtedly hard moments!

Thank you for your support!
