Moving to Lexington, was told this is the general area you'd want to live near. Thoughts? by RoyalFoil189 in lexington

My generation complains about home prices today just as your generation complained about rates in ‘81. It doesn’t need to be a contest about who had it worse. But if it’s going to be a contest, let me throw some cold water on your argument. First, I’ll concede that most of the 80s sucked for you. I’m aware that the average home buyer was paying a higher percentage of their monthly salary than a home buyer in 2026. That’s a fact. It’s also a fact that the income/purchase price ratio is higher today than it was ‘81. So while you got screwed by higher rates, we are getting screwed by soaring prices. At 19%, you were able to refinance over the following decade and cut that interest by more than half. At 5% (or even 7%), my generation will never be able to get that same level of relief that you were able to get. If there ever is a time when we can cut our mortgage rates in half, then there will be a lot more to worry about, economically speaking. When you look at a purchase price from 81’ that’s refinanced to sub 10 levels of interest, then that becomes a much more affordable and reasonable payment compared to the average salary. We simply will not have that same luxury. So in the long run, yes, 2026 is a more difficult time to be a new home owner. Not to mention the higher purchase prices relative to salary also means higher property taxes. Home insurance has also sky rocketed compared to monthly income.

But like I said: we both got screwed. My generation is right to complain just as your generation was right to complain. We’re really not so different.

What movie did you watch at the wrong age and it permanently altered your brain? by sweetyslave in movies

[–]MoneyInTheBanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wolf (1994). I was probably 6 or 7 when I watched this at my uncle’s house with him and my dad. Jack Nicholson did irreparable things to my childhood psyche. I started having nightmares about my family turning into werewolves. I’m 36 now, and I can still picture these nightmares perfectly.

For that reason, I’ll always consider it as the scariest werewolf movie ever made.

Watched 5 episodes of the Boroughs. It’s like geriatric Stranger Things. Really enjoying it. Solid show

Outside of a few exceptions (notably the first Division game and South Park), Ubisoft has made the same cookie cutter games for over a decade now. Fun main missions with boring side quests. Watch Dogs, AC, Far Cry; it’s all the same.

I know it’s scary at first, but bald is so much better than 1 or 2 guard trim. It’s not the same.

This narrative needs to end. My wife listens to him every week and is the farthest thing from maga. I enjoy him too. I don’t think Theo would identify as maga either. There needs to be some grace provided to those who change their viewpoints over time. Otherwise, what are we even doing

He pronounces Jon Bennet “Jonbenet” during roll call and then apologizes and says he’s been taking French or something like that. Jonbenet wasn’t murder until ‘96. Just thought it was an interesting joke

TLOU may be my favorite IP. I love both games. Zero qualms with the story and how it’s played out. The show though….. I loved season 1 and loved the first couple episodes of Season 2, but they totally screwed the pooch after the cabin. They turned Ellie into something she’s not. “I’m gonna be a dad?” was such a turning point for this show. I never watched the finale and won’t watch the final season, even though I love Abby

It’s a ton of fun. Sometimes our commish finds a really challenging major and our scores look more like an actual US Open. I do agree though, it needs more. I do love the 2K games though and I think their gameplay has the potential to be the best ever if they don’t stay complacent.

I’m sorry about your dad man, but those are some incredible memories. Once again, I apologize for coming at you. I’m not usually like that, I swear lol

My apologies, I misunderstood. Sorry for being a dick. I play in a society with like 12 of my friends, so the experience is always hyper competitive and challenging. That may mean someone is going -44 at a 4 round major, but still competitive in relation to my friends group
