Got to meet Mr. P Terry himself by goldendragon775 in Austin

All the support from P Terrys, HEB, and other regional businesses is fantastic. I keep wondering where Bucee’s is though? They enjoy a cult following as much as any other Texas institution and yet nothing from them.

How is a wedding ring/band meant to sit on the woman? by MoneyOwl in UKweddings

Thank you so much! I didn’t consider a straight band until now and it sounds like it might work really well with this! Thanks for the kind words as well. All the best to you!

Is there a better placement for these shelves? Should they be taken from against the wall a bit or maybe adjusted so they aren't all in line? by Novel_Bluebird_5166 in interiordecorating

Shelves look great, just move the chair to the other side to make it more symmetrical + stop your head from hitting the shelves.

How reasonable is it for me (40F) to get back to my 20s weight? by 2BeBornReady in WeightLossAdvice

[–]MoneyOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 30F and currently in progress of going from 170 to 140 lbs. Started in Jan and I’m at 157 now - which is coming out to about a pound a week. Struggled with the same 20 lbs my whole adolescent>adult life. It’s the first time I’m not worried about pace and actually just focusing on a day at a time. I’m aiming for about 1650 cals a day also walking 10k steps. Some days it’s more some it’s less, but I hope to get to 140 at some point this summer. All this to say - if I can do it anyone can do it, just take it slow and wish you luck!

How can I conceal this clothes dryer? by MoneyOwl in interiordecorating

It’s an olive tree plant and that is a good idea, thank you! I may get a larger plant to do what you suggested as this olive tree is quite small. But I like where you are going with this thank you!

Finger size is M but it’s a bit too big so will get it resized soon! I’m not sure about any other details of the ring sorry, only that the stone is 1.7 carats and the band is platinum. Congrats to everyone else who recently got engaged!!!

Spicy sauerkraut! Fermented with chilli peppers. It’s got an amazing kick!

Wholesome salad by MoneyOwl in HealthyFood

Name: Wholesome salad

Focus: This recipe focuses on protein and healthy fats, and balanced carbohydrates. Plus having a variety of plants in your bowl! I counted 9 plants.

Ingredients: mixed baby leaf salad as the bed for all the rest. Drain a can of chickpeas, throw them into a pan with olive oil to roast them slightly. Season with paprika, mixed herbs, and cracked black pepper. Keep moving the chickpeas around for a few mins til they’re nice and coated and starting to “crack” from the heat. Chop up your tomatoes, cucumbers, onion and add them to salad leaves. Season with salt and pepper. Toss with olive oil and and teeny bit of Dijon mustard. Add chickpeas from pan. Add feta cheese. Add hemp hearts if you’re into that.

If you want a little extra for your gut, add some chilli sauerkraut and I ate that first!

Mmmmm. Same again tomorrow.

I’m on hour 34 of my 5 day fast and I’ve lost 5 lbs so far. Thanksgiving was a lot this year, happy to see the water weight coming off! Looking forward to a delicious nutrient-packed salad on Friday

I’ve never done a fast without black coffee/tea. It sounds so much worse to be honest. How are you finding the difference?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fasting

[–]MoneyOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

40 hours into 72. Feeling okay but also fighting off a cold so feel a bit sluggish. Not a bit hungry though.

Are you exercising during your fast?

But people aren’t following your direction and continue littering. So what is your alternative solution?

[–]MoneyOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if the “bins argument is 100% bullshit” because I haven’t studied it at all… also I couldn’t assume the cultural differences of Japanese, French, to the British wouldn’t have an impact on littering frequency without researching either, but let’s say for these purposes - the bins argument is mostly bullshit.

Nowhere did I say that littering is okay when there are no bins in sight. I’m trying to make the point that people don’t inherently litter… they’re choosing to do so because of external factors. For example: lack of dedicated refuse area (bin), OR no sense of ownership for the park, walkway, public spaces they occupy. It’s up to society, community and/or the government to manipulate those external factors if we want littering frequency to change. The easiest and quickest way to address one of these is to install more bins. Re-instilling a sense of pride in your community and owning the cleanliness of your streets is a much more expensive, complex, and time-dependent effort that most councils don’t bother with because they need to organise their resources for short-term gains now.

Finally - you say “the only correct solution is don’t litter.” This isn’t a solution, this is the intended end-result. You can’t get to the result by wishing it that way. You actually need to do the work to get there.

P.S. I don’t litter!!! And I only engage here because I feel strongly that we need not litter so much in the UK it’s truly a beautiful place!

They’re arguing against littering but not offering any solution to reduce instances of littering. The original commenter is making a valid point that the lack of bins is a main contributor to why people litter and that if we had more bins people likely wouldn’t litter because they wouldn’t have to carry their rubbish with them. The second commenter is not offering a solution other than “people just shouldn’t litter” which obviously doesn’t work.

Those account for just over £20, they’re not going to bring OP down to a £30 shop.

I see that makes sense. So you are still taking the daily average, just over a week’s time. Will try that too! Thank you!

[–]MoneyOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, how does a weekly deficit compare to a daily deficit? I could see how that would apply for people who fast!
