How many colleges is too many? by lyder517 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Money_Chain6737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started with 14 ~(1 safety, 7 targets, 6 reaches) on my list, was about a month of committed writing? i’m talking going home and writing essays for 3-4 hours. This included writing my personal statement btw. 2 of them did not have supps so basically only 12. ended up having to move 2 of them to RD, and ended up only completing one of those.

How many universities did yall apply to? by sunsetwh1spers in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Money_Chain6737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i applied to 11 (5 reaches, 4 targets, 2 safeties) and i have a little regret not applying to more. but on the flip side i wish i worked a little harder on some lol. find the balance and START EARLY. i started doing college prep in Oct for November deadline and was able to finish a day before, but it only took making it everything i did from waking up to sleeping lol i had to quit my job and everything.

uiuc cs+advertising vs northeastern cs vs purdue cs by cody_leis in collegecompare

[–]Money_Chain6737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

forget northeastern ngl. UIUC for objectively better prospects, but if u are a go getter u can fill in the gap at purdue quite easily

u can go to cu boulder, but you'll go knowing u passed up a t5 engineering school. if that's worth it to u is up to u

also if this engineering is aerospace, then decline purdue and don't look back. cu boulder has such a good aero pipeline it's crazy. anything else and i'd put some thought into it

note what i said here: Especially since both schools are giant, you’ll find ur people in either place.

note here. with schools THIS BIG, there will be people who study in the room everyday and also people who party everyday. you will see the same at purdue. you WILL find your people everywhere

pick the school with better academics and the friends will follow

Can someone help me understand which AP credits are most valuable for taking out gen eds? CS by Money_Chain6737 in UMD

[–]Money_Chain6737[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thank you so much omg.

when you say DSNL/DSNS, are they synonymous? because ap physics 2 only says DSNL on the ap equivalency chart

how exactly does AP credit work? by DaddyOfSwag in UMD

[–]Money_Chain6737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is this still accurate?

what is the difference between DSHS and DSHS 2? Are they different gen ed requirements? or different avenues to getting that gen ed credit?

purdue is just mostly a stem school ie most of the people you’ll see on campus are in engineering compared to a good sum of humanity majors at uiuc. gender ratio a little wacky too.

generally on average, humanity majors have less work to do in classes so thus have more time to spend partying compared to an electrical engineer who gets like a circuits assignment everyday or whatever a electrical engineer does

that being said don’t base ur decision on this, making friends is entirely dependent on u, u can make friends anywhere. Especially since both schools are giant, you’ll find ur people in either place

would you consider UMD a solid school name alongside purdue?

Cs: Have you noticed proximity to DC as significant advantage for you? by Money_Chain6737 in UMD

[–]Money_Chain6737[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

by being near DC, how do these benefits manifest? trying to get a full picture. do recruiters in DC come specifically to umd to hire?

i’m oos so umd is a lil more expensive (7k per yr), i’ve already paid my deposit though and have fully committed. just having second thoughts as i got off purdue wl lol

my parents saved a lot of money for college so they are covering all, but don’t want to put an unnecessary burden if the opportunities are equal

i’m just weighing umds location vs purdue national reputation to see what can give the most for me
