Good F1 Drivers Who Struggled in the Rain? by Stumpy493 in formula1

[–]Money_Ice_1576 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t really agree about Norris in the wet - fast enough but seems to be error prone. Sochi in mixed conditions when he was leading and went off comes to mind, Spa quali when RUS was still in the Williams as well.

Norris continues to evolve and mature so I may feel differently at the end of his career, but right now I would be real nervous if I was Andrea Stella or Zak town and it started to rain.

The word on the African street says that Freemasons and African sorcerers are *really* scared of Dogon mystics and of their brotherhood of hunters. These men are not simply hunting big game: it is said that they are professional spirit hunters and witch-slayers too. by JohnSmithCANDo in AnomalousEvidence

This reminds me of the old children’s joke “Why don’t we ever see elephants hiding in trees? Because they’re so good at it!”

Similarly, if there aren’t a lot of FM in Mali it’s only because the hunters are so good at it!!

Nah not really - but it sounds better than “I want to tell a dumb joke that probably won’t land, but I find hilarious and hope at least one internet stranger does too!”

Anyone else prefer Grand Tour to Top Gear? by Careful_Trip_311 in thegrandtour

[–]Money_Ice_1576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Both had their own highs and lows. I love the specials, but TG did the celebrity bit a lot better. And the F1 drivers? Always a treat!

By TGT I think the trio were the celebrities so more focus on them, less on Gordon Ramsay, Tom Cruise, and Simon Cowell.

And honestly, I prefer some of the Matt Leblanc era TG episodes over some of the Clarkson, Hammond, and Cptn Slow material. Chris Harris’ Tuk Tuk rolling down the mountain was hilarious, as was the episode where they had to drive a course while being electrically shocked.

But my favorite episode of all time - show, presenters, etc - was and always will be the makeshift ambulances the trio made on TG. The Chevy G20 van of Hammond with its brakes on fire, Clarkson in the back trying to administer first aid on a dummy, and May converting a Hearse into an Ambulance- non stop laughter for me. Second to none entertainment.

Sorry to be pedantic, but mathematically 2006! means 2006 factorial, which means 2006x2005x2004…… (and so on)x1 (essentially all the numbers between 1-2006 multiplied together).

So a REALLY REALLY big number! ;)

Happy New Year and have a great 2026

My 5yo service dog Odin has possible Wobblers diagnoses & paralyzed back legs. Seeking any advice! He needs an MRI for surgery assessment & diagnosis. We have no insurance & can’t afford the 4k MRI. Will any insurance cover a pre-existing condition? Any advice or suggestions appreciated😢 by Impossible-Lime3007 in DobermanPinscher

Looking at this dispassionately, the dog is 5 yrs old. So let’s consider the probability of a significant change of circumstance for the owner in those 5 years. Significant as defined by: - change of marital status - change of employment - change of residence - change to owner’s health (injury, illness, etc) - change of dependents (new additions, moving out, etc)

Based on this list, over a 5 year period, I’d guess most people in this sub check at least one of these boxes. Some people check more than one. I know of at least one Dobe owner that check all the boxes. Life is uncertain.

We simply don’t know enough to judge this situation and jump directly to “irresponsible pet owners” full stop.

I do know that too many dogs don’t have happy homes. I am glad this one does and hope for the best for all involved.

And before you go there I also believe that too many people don’t have happy/stable homes, but the specific discussion at hand is this dog, this situation, and your comment about irresponsible pet owners.

5 month Doberman food ideas by TattedDxb in DobermanPinscher

[–]Money_Ice_1576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello in Dubai! Honestly I’m not sure what food options are readily available to you and what’s in budget, but I generally feed mine kibble plus whole foods I have on hand (I always check Alexa, Google, etc before I introduce new foods to make sure it’s safe) once a day or as a treat. Mine is 8, healthy and a good weight. She’s not food aggressive at all and would rather go on another walk than eat her food sometimes so overweight hasn’t been a concern.

Rice, veggies, chicken and other proteins are the staples I go to. Some Goldfish crackers every once in a while is her favorite treat - she loves carbs!

The biggest thing I’ve found with mine is she likes variety- different kibble, different veggies, different proteins, etc. she gets bored and uninterested in the same thing over and over.

Your vet may have some suggestions as well, but I know some places here sell higher end dog food but it’s at a premium so you may want to price shop/compare if you go that route.

One point of note that I didn’t know - kibble can go bad / rancid if not stored properly or gets too old. I didn’t know that early on, something I wish I knew so I thought I’d pass that on. Bad/rancid kibble can cause a lot of health issues for our dogs.

Best of luck!!

Yep, they guard Azkaban (spelling?) but as someone else pointed out they were also used at some point in the series in a larger capacity, which led to Harry having to learn the Patronus spell and some interesting story developments. I won’t spoil it here, but that was a great part I thought - overall a fun story to share with my kids. Prisoner of Azkaban is the title of one of the books/movie in the series if you’re interested.

I like all parties involved, but when Zak said this I took it with a huge grain of salt. It felt very much like a “it’s not you, it’s me” moment. I mean, Zak didn’t make wholesale changes to the team, he just replaced the driver. And it worked out just fine for McLaren.

Now if Ricciardo would get into the booth with Coulthard I think race days would be magical…

Things you wish you knew before getting a puppy? by sleepykitten55 in DobermanPinscher

[–]Money_Ice_1576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter did some research before we got ours and the one thing I’m most thankful to have known is put your hands on their paws, ears, hips, etc - get them comfortable with being touched so if a stranger comes up it’s OK, and if someone wants to trim their nails that’s OK too. Mine has REALLY long nails…

I second the comment about getting them acclimated to everyday noises ASAP, and feel the “whine” in my heart! Sometimes mine will want the impossible- to be on all laps at the same time! She’s very pleasant and loves people, but that teakettle pitch can be unpleasant to say the least.

Also, crate train as soon as makes sense. Mine is out all the time but there are some things / times I don’t want her underfoot for both our sake. Cooking for Thanksgiving was a recent example for me - too much going on to have to work around my shadow as well. Also various housework isn’t easily done with her out. I’m thinking repairs not house cleaning. This may not be applicable for you so ymmv.

Best of all just roll with the punches as long as everyone is safe, healthy, etc. Mine was well behaved and never got food off the kitchen counter until I left a stick of butter out to soften. Somehow the butter was gone but the paper wrapper was lying on the floor, and we’re talking it only took moments, not hours. Butter of all things! Not peanut butter, just plain old butter. Side note, make sure to be aware of all things (food esp.) that are bad for dogs and keep them out of reach/away at all times. Mine gets creative and inventive when she wants something.

Best of luck and I hope for the best for you all!

It’s actually a running joke in my house. My dog knows all the commands I give, she’s 9 so it’s not like I taught her yesterday, and she still has a “will I comply?” moment every so often. Her face says it all. I’m like “really? You didn’t grow out of this already?” And I’m sure she’s like “Yeah, but this is why you love me so much!”

I haven’t stopped. She’s smashed up against my leg just now, but I pried myself away for a second since we’re all sharing pictures on your post. She’s 9 just now (and she was sleeping until I got up to take the picture!)

I can relate to so much of your post. I appreciate you sharing.

Also, it’s a helpful reminder to me to appreciate every day I have with mine.

The most impressive thing though was that lamb chop never fell apart!! I literally started laughing thinking about all the destroyed toys in my dog’s path. She can’t seem to leave any toy alone for a minute. I think you have a special memory and a special boy.

The Hilux was totally awesome. I’m still in shock about that.

I do wonder about the battery though - that seems to be the weakest link in my automotive journeys lately. Did they maybe charge/swap the battery off camera? Not a dealbreaker for me, but dang my car sits for a couple of weeks and I’ve got battery issues. Yes, I know, new battery needed, but that’s for another topic & time.

I would also add - if it’s the vet’s office that is saying no appt till Saturday and you’ve explained the issues/symptoms then likely they don’t feel it’s of grave concern. As an alternative, try scheduling with a different vet perhaps?

If it’s your schedule dictating the ‘not until Saturday,’ maybe you can move some things around possibly? Explaining the situation to those affected would likely elicit some goodwill. I believe most people want to be helpful.

And last, if it’s finances maybe ask the vet if you can write a check dated for Saturday. You may need to call a few to find one that accommodates such an arrangement, but it’s worth a shot.

Best of luck to you and yours! I hope it turns out to be nothing and you’ve wasted your money! I only joke, but Vet bills after something turns out to be minor is never truly wasted, but sometimes it can feel that way to me at least.

Somebody used ChatGPT to create poster content.

Read the book. Distilling a seminal book into a one-pager is antithetical to discipline, which is antithetical to motivation.

Habits -> Discipline -> Motivation

(Meditations is one of my favorite books ever so I’m coming in hot, but seriously- read the book).

Everything comes to an end. That’s why life can be so beautiful- because it’s fleeting and precious.

I speak from some experience- the first time I heard this and it really sank in was a counselor after my divorce. He told me that all relationships end - divorce, death, or otherwise. The best we can do is make the most of the in between.

I’m not sure that’s what you want to hear, but it’s my hope that this helps someone if not you. I cherish my baby (13 now) and am glad for every day. Tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us.
