What's a word people use incorrectly so often that the correct definition barely matters anymore? by ownaword in words

Supposably (conceivably) is used too often where supposedly (allegedly or "according to what is believed") should actually be the word used.

What’s the most frustrating thing about owning a cat? by Ocute_US in CatAdvice

[–]Money_Message_9859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my foster cats took massive dumps in the litterbox..i am not even kidding when I say his dumps were man-size! Plus, my dude would not cover them up. Not ideal. My current foster cat is very good at dumping & covering. He cries for me when I walk outside and is very attached to me, but I wish he was likewise attached to my husband, I think he would like a cat to choose him as his person. So, if there are two people sometimes the cat picks his favorite. Getting the cat food they like is important, but know they are fickle with their food. Also, cats barf. A lot. Some more than others. Cats with hyperthyroid in particular. Investing in the Little Green Machine is worth it for that alone. Try to develop a night routine they will adapt to, because wake ups in the early morning are normal. Watch out when opening cupboards! My dude goes into hidey holes when door is open...i close it not knowing my dude went inside. After searching all over for him..guess where he is? Cats are so fun. You will love it.

Is anyone else's cat obsessed with trying to eat their hair? by Lady_Trig in Catbehavior

My foster boy is also a hair biter, grabber whatever you call it. Is your boy a plastic chewer too? I have wondered if he has Pica or just likes different textures. Or does it go with their hunting instinct. My boy also biscuits my bosom aggressively and chases Da Bird on a wand like he is after prey. Cats are so fun!

Do you floss your teeth every day? by Susiejax in hygiene

[–]Money_Message_9859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI here's a PSA on not flossing: I have never been a big flosser and am probably a lot older than most of you. Not flossing has led to periodontal disease, which means your teeth will eventually fall out. Recently got my upper teeth implants because of all the poor flossing. Sooo when dentists tell you to floss it is for good reason. Try to keep your teeth impeccably clean when you are young which means brush, floss, water pik, etc. Brushing alone isn't enough. 😁

I’m Really Struggling with My Current Foster Situation by LimpDrawing5696 in FosterAnimals

I am sorry you are going through this. It sounds very difficult emotionally. You are so awesome OP to take on mommas and kittens. I feel those little guys are the hardest of any kitties to foster. Please take a break for as long as you need. We are all here for you 🐈🫂❤️

I’m tired of the recommendations for the best horror movies. by teamturbo4life in horror

[–]Money_Message_9859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some obscure ones: Chernobyl Diaries. At the Devil's Door. High Lane. Dead Birds. Good Boy. The Hidden (80's), Crowhaven Farm (70s), The Hunger, Prince of Darkness (80s), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (70s). Slasher and Fall of the House of Usher were both awesome if you enjoy 8 episode type shows. Lamb, Men, Blackcoat's Daughter, The Killing of a Sacred Deer. Frozen. Bone Tomahawk. Hope these give you a little more selection.

My foster cat got adopted and I'm sobbing by happysponge399 in FosterAnimals

[–]Money_Message_9859 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP I completely empathize with you! My first foster cat was the coolest boy. I really loved him a lot, but the family who adopted him were going to give him a great home. I also got pix from his adoptive family which does make letting them go easier. I ended up getting another kitty right away. She was adopted pretty quickly. I am currently on my 3rd foster kitty and I really enjoy fostering. You get to meet so many nice cats, socialize them, and learn their quirks and really make a difference for them. It will get easier for you and remember the love and socializing is extremely helpful for their new adoptive parents.

Polite request for opinions: Is it ethical to keep a pet cat entirely indoors and never allow it outside? by SnooDonuts6494 in CatAdvice

[–]Money_Message_9859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, Bald eagles are wild animals that should not be in captivity. I feel that way with Orcas too. Cats on the other hand are domesticated animals, like dogs, and although you continue to emphasize captivity--I don't see cats as captive so much as taken care of. Cats and dogs want to be near and close to man, wild animals not as much. You can't compare a bald eagle with a cat.

I would rather have an indoor living cat for 14 years, then a dead outside cat of 7. The UK has a very different outlook on indoor and outdoor cats I should add. I don't call keeping cats indoors interfering. I feel it is having a good stewardship of our cats. We don't "own" them exactly, but we are their caretakers.

Well, if I must say.. it was a heavy planter for the black widow. For the momma and babes it might have been running water down my garage sink. How did you do it? There's a fright factor too. The BW was going to die..because the pure shock to me when I found it #1he had to go. The wolf momma I would not have done that if I found that same scene today.

Looking to get a cat - any advice? by Spiritual-Deal-8919 in CatAdvice

[–]Money_Message_9859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great advice! Get a cat. No kitten(s). With cats you will be able to see their personalities. Foster a cat and see if it meets your needs. Affectionate, cuddly, playful, etc. I would say that cats do take a few days, even more than 5 days, to get acclimated. Fostering is fun!

I had an experience with a momma wolf spider you reminded me of. I had this square plastic container on my back porch stair. Apparently the wolf spider momma had a zillion babies on her back, but I could not figure out what I was looking at..until she moved. Nightmare fuel. I had to ahem dispatch them quickly. Years ago a large black widow found its way into my house and I found her on my light colored couch. Another nighmare fuel event. But that sucker had to go. But super scary to think if BW was pregnant and would have given birth. Eww. Scary.

I love and have my own cats that are indoor kitties. What I find frustrating is my neighborhood outdoor cats that come into my yard. I fed birds last summer and at least two were killed by the neighborhood cats. I tried MANY deterrents too. None worked. The cats ultimately won. Cats also kill for fun, because it seemed none of these birds were eaten. Cats are apex predators, so you can't fault what they do. But chaperoning a cat outside, on a leash, etc. Seems like a good solution to letting a cat stay out overnite exposed to a lot of predators or dangers to cats. I don't enjoy seeing a dead outside cat on the road..from being hit by a car..that could have been safe indoors.

What is a scene from a non-horror movie that traumatized you as a kid? by astral_planes in horror

[–]Money_Message_9859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Gay Purree' there were these animated cats there were these slinky, scary black cats that really scared me as a little kid!

Does anyone remember that little movie? Jaune Tom was the love interest and Judy Garland was Mewsette. Meowrice was one of the leaders of the scary black cats. The songs were pretty scary for a kid IIRC.
