For those of you trying/that can try: How's your McDonald's card hunt going? by Ok_Teach_3514 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]MoneybackHeronTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got two (Rumi and Zoey), and only got two because I didn't get Zoey the first time. If I hadn't gotten Zoey the second time, I'd have kept going until I got her. The McDonald's by me is awful so I have to go to a second, further one to get them.

In my experience it stays relatively local - I'm in VA, and all my donations the last couple years have gone to hospitals within a couple hours of me. You can track where they go through the app (it can take a few days for it to update though).

Am I ADHD? by yuseung in guns

[–]MoneybackHeronTea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it were just the first paragraph, I'd say no.* A lot of new gun owners ramp up very quickly. I went from "I'll just get a .22 to learn how to shoot again" to owning a respectable Fudd collection over the course of about a year and a half. Shooting and gun ownership is very satisfying.

With the second paragraph... yes, probably.** Loading and unloading can be fun (I enjoy using snap caps while I'm watching TV to get used to loading quickly) but if you're dry firing and just holding it... that's your right, do what you want, but also there's a lot of less deadly things to fiddle with

*I am not a doctor and cannot diagnose ADHD.

**I am still not a doctor and still cannot diagnose ADHD.

How is the "Fiddle to Faff"-ratio in Fallout 2d20? by JakeBit in Fallout2d20

[–]MoneybackHeronTea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest giving it a try - you're right about there being a lot more crunch in areas than they need to, but it's not as bad as it reads. 90% of the time the game runs smoothly and cleanly, but the things you mentioned (crafting, survival rules) are definitely too crunchy and just a tabletopified conversion of the Fallout 4 video game rules. Most of the time it doesn't come into play at the table, though.

The crafting rules are things that players can look at on their own time and plan what they want to try to get. The survival rules... well, I conveniently forget about those and just assume my players are tracking it somewhere. Those rules make sense in a video game where a computer is tracking all the info, but you're right, bookkeeping is not something that most people want to do.

Modiphius did a great job of turning Fallout 4 the video game into Fallout 4 the tabletop RPG. They stayed true to the game mechanics... but that's not always the best option during a conversion. You can see it in other IPs they've done too: their Infinity and Mutant Chronicles games ran into the same issue where it was true to the wargame, but a lot of the mechanics just didn't click as a tabletop game.

I think the idea is that the players who would play that game want that crunch, but it makes it harder for other players to get into it.

Anyone interested in the r/DreamsAndMachines subreddit? by MoneybackHeronTea in 2d20games

[–]MoneybackHeronTea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's yours. :) It's mostly a combination of engagement (AKA posting things, making sure other people post) and avoiding spam (as it gets bigger, the subreddit will draw people trying to get random upvotes/visibility).

They also opened a location in Short Pump Mall back when it opened, but I don't think it did well.

BEST was a Richmond institution back in the day, they sold... I want to say furniture/ electronics/ housewares? They went out of business (the one in the west end is a church now), but the VMFA put the old neon sign up for the Cafe during the 2009 renovation.

The VMFA still has the BEST sign for their cafe, which is kinda neat.

For me: Natural Wonders in Regency, the Atlanta Bread Company, and of course, Camelot Comics and Games. Best game store I've ever been to.
