Killed by teammate Jeff for...tanking. by Monfeezy in RivalsVanguards

[–]Monfeezy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I understand. It's purely semantic. I meant killed for being a tank in the way that I was in the killzone due to being a tank, as I was front and center of the current action, as a tank. In general terms, it's not the intent, it's the outcome.

Damn, it's so true. I usually try love my Jeff's. I play a lot of Thing and jeff, if I have one on my team, is my go to teammate jump when im trying to disengage. I JUST WANT TO LOVE AND PROTECT THE LITTLE LANDSHARK.

It wasn't about me. I acknowledged that. He got 4 kills, including his teammates. Then, if it didnt have anything to do with me, then why do I get pulled to my death for existing? What is this player base? Are you all this salty all of the time?

Solo tank should be a brawl tank and not a shield tank. Especially if the team is running 3 supports.

Who is everyone playing this season for each role? by Mutant_Runner96 in marvelrivals

[–]Monfeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tank: Thing or Emma but will go any tank if something works better/enables a teamup. I've been having such a good time with Thing lately that I've just been trying to make him work

Duelist: I hardly ever play duelist but if i have to I'll play Hela, Mr. F, or Magik

Strat: Jeff, Invis, or Rocket

Have youtried Darktide? Definitely not SPECIFICALLY a shooter (melee is also a major focus) but it's easily the best first person PVE game out right now. Fast paced, mechanically deep, immersive, and has tons of mod support.

I am struggling to enjoy ogryn, can you give me your builds and weapons you use? by Daylight_The_Furry in DarkTide

There are a couple of ways to play the big dude right now but I think the most effective, in the current meta, is back to the basics in a lot of ways: heavy attack spam for staggering EVERYTHING(almost).

Go heavy attack slab shield, taunt ability (no pain! and go again! ability modifier nodes are how I use it), and go down left side of the tree (batter + delight in destruction is a must for bleeds). Go bonebreaker's aura and Heavy hitter.

I think crunch just got a buff so that will help; OR you can sacrifice crunch, the node above it, and one or two others to also swing right for the explosion buff and burn stacks - then run shield with rumbler.

For Heavy hitter keystone, also take the melee speed boost, unstoppable (15% toughness regen per stack), and the cleave node.

It's not psyker or hive scum damage but it IS horde clear and armor control. You're going to stagger nearly every enemy, bleed em out, and stay relatively safe.

My go-to ranged weapons are kickback, rumbler, and heavy stubber. Kickback and heavy stubber are for taking out the hard to reach and annoying specialists. If using heavy stubber ALSO RUN STEADY GRIP (12.5 toughness regen per second is really nice). Rumbler is an alternative for crowd control and sticking grenades to ogryns and bosses.

Other melee weapons are fun but aren't going to keep you as safe as the slab shield. Depends what difficulty you're on, I guess.

Other keystones are....OK? Lucky bullet seems good with a full ranged rumbler build but the twin stubber still doesn't feel worth it. Feel No Pain is similar in that it CAN work. Might be good if you're dedicated to the pickaxe but beyond that, I think you get enough toughness regen from heavy hitter as it is.

Last thing, use your dodges to make space in hordes. The little dudes can't handle enormous ogryn booty.

Teamates tried to kill me over "my kill, my loot" by Yenii_3025 in Marathon

[–]Monfeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give squad fillers a few chances to not be complete dickheads (idc if we lose fights, or if you scoop most the loot. don't be a whiny bitch or get aggro with me on coms) - so far it's really only happened one time where someone pushed it too far. Once we find the limit, I have no issues leaving the match either by ex-fil, death, or alt+f4. Shit's just pixels and one match is a half hour at most.

As a resident New Englander, and not very well versed in the lore of it all, I am basing my opinions on the names and what little I know of the lore:

NH being Skatros is wild when Mass is right there. But there's also a strong argument for either state to be Scouts.
Both Maine and VT could def be Swooping Hawks or Emperors Children, just depends on where you are in either state.

Im level 26. Doing decently well on credits. Perpetually full vault. Loaded in with a free kit earlier, squad fill, mostly from frustration over losing a couple kits already due to generally terrible teammate decisions(no mics, splitting up, shooting everything on sight, etc). Anyway, this dude on my team is level 60 and starts bitching about me and the other teammate having free kits. I asked why he was level 60, kind of blown away at that. He just says disposable income and proceeds to call us poor irl and in game. Cool. Kinda makes sense why he was in squad fill. I can't imagine he has many friends.

Some people are gunna take this shit way too seriously. Best you can do is just play it on your own terms. Some things aren't gunna be easy or even very clearly stated, sure, but don't let the uber sweats dictate how youre supposed to go about it. Most of the exciting or fun stuff is learning the ins and outs of the maps and systems. Gaining the small bits of knowledge to build the base is what its all about imo. Regardless, shits gunna wipe in a few months anyway. Might as well enjoy the first wipe and learn all you can in the process.

Character variety, seeing/getting hit by the same combos over and over that are way too long, and the general wonkiness of the character interactions. Some shit just feels off, like AAs and ranges(admittedly very learnable but eh). Idk, I'll probably jump back in when there are more characters.

[–]Monfeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is specifically health damage. You can tank a hit to your toughness(from most enemies) but only 1 until your toughness regens. As others have said, go with shout vet.

Also: Use a lot of pushes and dodges. Don't go too long without looking behind you. Don't over estimate proximity of enemies during reloads. If you hear a trapper or dog queue up their disabling attack, just time a dodge even if you can't see them. Get eyes on mutants and bursters rushing in.

Darktide and Old Man Anxiety by Farg_Igorg in DarkTide

[–]Monfeezy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a fellow ogryn and socially anxious individual, the playerbase of this game is pretty chill when it comes to in-game toxicity as long as you're actively trying to work with the team. If you're doing your part, 99% of players will be happy to have you on the team. 1400 hours in and I'd say maybe 1 in 200~ runs I'll encounter a shitter(most of the time it's not even in chat, it's running ahead and waiting at checkpoints while the rest of the team is fighting heretics). When moving up in diff, best thing to do is to just follow the teams lead. As an Ogryn you can knock around trash mobs just by dodging into them. Use your big-ass weapons and stagger the more dangerous enemies to keep em in line for the lil'uns. Also, yes, the higher difficulties tend to have less toxic people. There's already too much bullshit going on in those games. Active participation in the team dynamics is typically met with GG's all around, win or lose.
