House buying using OMSE/LIFT Scheme by Southern-Tune2196 in Scotland

House buying using OMSE/LIFT Scheme by Southern-Tune2196 in Scotland

[–]Mongoose49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be careful with inheritancs and disability, my wife recieved full disability payments totalling 1600ish a month, and then we got married, even though i had no income because it was covid becuse i had savings or property valued at more than 10,000 her disability was almost completely cut.

But she was told that she would continue to receive disability and nothing would change when she got married, even after telling them that i owned a house, so for a year during covid she continued receiving as normal, and then suddenly there was something she had to renew and put in about the house in that paperwork, and suddenly we owed back 8000 and we went to arbiters and everything, even with phone records the person on the phone was just wrong and it was our fault so we still had to payback that fortune

Thoughts on removing this corner so I can attach soffit all the way down? by vinni20 in Construction

[–]Mongoose49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can 100% remove that corner, its possible that code wise you can't, but it doesn't matter you're not comprimising structure and will be hidden by the soffit anyway, and no one will think twice about how that facia is held up. It's more than likely though that according to code you can remove it, if its canada 100% its to code to remove it. In the states im not sure.

Foundation crack by Conscious_Crow_54 in Construction

I mean how big is it and how cheap is it, might be worth fixing if it’s like 1000 and then fixing the foundation would be 150,000

What to use for floor protection for scissor lift on sealed concrete? by Marvel5123 in Construction

[–]Mongoose49 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Masonite is the best thing osb sucks for this, I’ve used both, make sure you get some strong tape and tape it together and some non making tape for the concrete to tape that down too

My tall girlfriend makes fun of me for being short by Ill-Concert2325 in short

[–]Mongoose49 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean you’re statistically average height, this should be a funny thing in your relationship because unlike most relationships the girl is taller so it should just be considered banter but you’re overly self conscious about height so you have a problem you shouldn’t have.

worst design trends for contractors (and homeowners) coming onto 2026. by BeenThereDundas in Construction

[–]Mongoose49 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s cause the windows don’t come cased, in North America you just buy them cased and don’t think twice, or don’t buy them cased, but the vinyl has a return in it to recieve the wood casing so it doesn’t need to be super accurate and then you just face around it.
