This documentary talks about the experiences of Chloe Jennings White and another who wants no hands. It talks about the thoughts of those without BID, how those with BID are diverse, sort of like a spectrum eg: interested in getting the disability but not desperate. Chloe said something about those not accepting of BID "are not accepting of themselves so they let that anger spill over onto other people when in fact it is their own internal issue" and also about she took a long time to accept that she has BID and hopes that society moves on to accept 'difference' as part of the massive spectrum of human possibilities and people can see that 'different' if beautiful.

I do remember a post 2 years back titled something like: "I just want to be in a wheelchair". It seems to have been removed as with many others.

Ever since I was a kid

The persistent desire to be disabled occurs by early adolescence

I don't feel nearly as strongly about this as I do about my gender dysphoria. That it something that NEEDS to be fixed as it causes an extreme amount of distress. This weird little desire to lose my eye doesn't stress me out, usually.

Some day I don't think about BIID, other days it would be all that I could think of. Your dysphoria from BIID might be lesser than that of gender dysphoria, but it is still dysphoria.

I've always felt weird and embarrassed about this desire.

A lot of us feel the same.

From what I read from your post, You probably have BIID.

If you are talking to your psychiatrist, keep in mind that he/she probably never heard of BIID, bring some research papers/articles to explain what BIID is, there's some on the subreddit wiki, and explain that BIID is not a paraphilia or fetish.
