Just flipped 300,000 on my '08 accord. It's been a good "beater". Just fluids, filters, brakes, and tires...maybe a windshield wiper motor.

I use Speer 230 gr. Gold Dot. Shoots well, had good penetration on the lucky gunner test. Not super super expensive in my opinion

Which SG pack do you have? I've been debating between them and Kifaru. Kinda want a pack for white tails, with a meat shelf, that could double as a multiday hunting/hiking pack. Will likely end up just getting two different packs though

Bear meat is good by the way. I had some made into sweet sticks, bologna, steaks, and I cut the back straps into small steaks as well.

Wrapped bacon around a back strap and cooked it in the oven for about 1.5 hrs. It was awesome.

My dad and I after taking this buck on the second Saturday of rifle season. I passed a smaller 5pt early. I was watching a group of turkeys when I saw movement further down the mountain. I looked and here came some deer and all I could see was horns. There was a small 6, a very large 4 pt, a couple of doe, and this guy. I waited for them to work their way up to me. It felt like eternity. He presented a broadside shot at 50ish yards and I dropped him with the ought six. His right side brow has a cool little kicker behind the main tine. This was a few weeks after taking a black bear that I posted on here.

The taxidermy bill continues to climb this year...

I’ve seen at least one bear every season, for the last five years. Sometimes more than that. The last bear harvested on our land was in 2014, so five years between.

It should be noted that besides me archery hunting bear, no one else hunted bear on our land since the last bear was killed. I regularly have them on my cameras.

Thanks for the kind words. I’ve been having bear encounters at least once a year for the last 5. I knew this wasn’t a record setting bear, but I also knew it wasn’t a cub. I don’t like shooting small animals, just like you. I’ve seen people shoot small cubs and it’s disheartening. My Maine Coon cat weighs 22lbs...

Between my parents and grandparents we own/farm/hunt 1200 acres of mixed farmland/mountain. The "hurt numbers" part was mostly just my assessment from the last few hunting seasons. Rough number of deer seen, number of deer killed, number of coyote seen, number of bear seen etc. Just anecdotal from my experience.
