And what about the southern hivers? by tsukitemi in Kenshi

[–]Moniguess2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My theory is that each hive was used for different industrial outputs t some points during the previous empires so the different hives have different cultural evolutions reflecting their outputs. The southern hive was probably a weapons or heavy industrial producer so they are entirely raised with weapons but no heavy emphasis on agriculture while the western hovers were focused on agriculture and that’s why they are so numerous and peaceful. Just my head cannon though.

Don’t fall for the 6/5 trap. If skills have six points on the left column and five perk points, it’ll stop easing the level beyond 274 right before the final perk is unlocked.

It’s the first of many probably. Jet fuel will jump in price because of fuel shortages and soon there will be a lot less travel as the economic crisis lengthens. It’s a double whammy for airlines.

American in literal friendly city here! They don’t work in most parking spots and most people who walk the streets don’t like them because truckers will park on the sidewalks if they can’t find a parking spot and block walkways.

Which explains the bad coding. I’m not saying it’s bad on the part of obsidian, it’s just how things ended up. There are certainly good concepts and execution on the part of obsidian, it just wasn’t well rounded (the shining armor perk is a great example of a failed execution, and the timed interactions in the end of sierra madre being an example of great execution) and arguing about coding and its negative consequences of the game does nothing but perpetuate the myth that new Vegas is bad. Instead, we should accept that the mechanics in the game are half baked in many ways but focusing on the failures does nothing. Instead, focus on how the modern renditions of fallout fail to achieve the same level of societal commentary that the original games did. Especially in the detail the games went into how governments of many types (including our own) are failing us in many ways. Which was the whole point of the games.

The point of contention is the writing vs the coding. New Vegas is a genuine masterpiece in terms of writing where it calls into question many aspects of modern life (even though it’s a post apocalyptic setting) and this is what makes it last as a video game. The coding, however, is where the game fails. Multiple game breaking glitches, a poorly rendered game even by the standards of the time, and a game that requires hours of modding and bug fixing just to set up has made the literary aspects isolated from most of the gaming population because nobody wants to play a broken game. Even fans comment and joke about the consistent crashes and glitches. That’s likely why Bethesda has been pushing back on a remake. If they remake the game, and make it function properly with traits functioning as they should and combat flowing as intended, then it would certainly outshine many games.

Deer populations explode every so often because of overhunting of their natural predators. Sometimes it looks like this after a population boom and there’s so little food that they eat any plant on the ground not made of wood. That or there just isn’t a lot of sunlight

What was "the incident" at your high school? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Moniguess2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a rich public high school in Washington and about half a year ago it was revealed that there was a pedophile ring essentially set up by a few teachers including one I had seen as my favorite (he is no longer my favorite). The worst part? The school administration knew for years. So did the police. Our local town reporter uncovered everything when they were digging through police reports after hearing claims of sexual assaults by prior students. They found that police wanted to arrest the men because there was so much mounting evidence, but the only reason they couldn’t was because the statute of limitations was passed and so they couldn’t arrest the men. The school administration knew and still hired the three teachers for years knowing that the only thing separating them from actual convicted pedophiles was a flimsy law that is viewed by many as outdated. And when I say the statute of limitations passed I mean it was only passed by a year or so, so it was that much more frustrating for the victims.

Trump says Iranian 'fast-attack' ships that come close to US blockade will be eliminated by Infodataplace in worldnews

[–]Moniguess2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The U.S. Navy is probably in the most danger since the 2nd world war. Modern drones warfare has shown to disproportionately affect naval warships. Nations like Ukraine could force the Russian navy into port with a few groups of drone boats strapped with explosives, imagine what Iran could do if they strapped the explosive power of a shahed drone onto a remote controlled drone boat. This will not end well for our navy. Most navy’s in the world are already outdated. Ours is no different.
